King actually loved the movie ending

Frank wrote a new ending that I loved. It is the most shocking ending ever and there should be a law passed stating that anybody who reveals the last 5 minutes of this film should be hung from their neck until dead.

Anything for the buck...
I thought it a sellout.

To each his or her own..
I found the movie ending to be significantly better then the book.

"For every Perspective, there is an equal and opposite Perspective!" - First Law of Soul Dynamics
One Truth does not require the negation of the opposite.
Truth is ALL inclusive!
Of course I was stating MY Perspective.
"All 'value' exists in the mind of the beholder!" - Zen Kahuna

Or like i said, to each his or her own.

First time!? Damn. I've probably seen it 5 times lol

I also loved the ending. I'm not familiar with the book's ending but the movie ending was impactful and I like that.

Not overly fond of super happy endings, especially for horror.

Then I think you'd be happy with the book ending too.

Happy trails.

I think the last scene poses some serious moral questions for society in general.

Spoilers Ahead!

Would he be charged today? Assuming the monsters are defeated?
Regionally, he'd possibly get the death sentence.

We understand why he did what he did.

But are those the reactions of a reasonable man?

You may not know what happens next.
You never have the right to play God over the life of others.
But what about the law that judges him then?

But is that fair?

You never have the right to take a life.
Not even even if you do so to spare much suffering to the best of your knowledge?

But what he did was murder (even with the best intentions).
He played God, which is never our right.

I must be honest though.
Within the context of the movie, if it was my regiment, I'd make that gun disappear.
Then I'd him give a sleep, a shower and a good meal.
Then I'd tell him to start a new life and never mention it again.

But those would be extraordinary, virtually inhuman circumstances.

Only for the hypothetical context of this movie.
Under no other circumstance can any crime go unpunished.

Technically, the ending that Darabont came up with already originated within the book.

I checked the gun and then put it into the glove compartment. Ollie had reloaded it after the expedition to the drugstore. The rest of the shells had disappeared with him, but that was all right. He had fired at Mrs. Carmody, he had fired once at the clawed thing, and the gun had discharged once when it hit the ground. There were four of us in the Scout, but if push came right down to shove, I'd bind some other way out for myself.

Best of both worlds.

John browning made his first gun when he was 11 years old. The colt 1911 was the first automatic pistol and after overr 100 years its design in parrt or whole is still necessary for an automatic ppistol.

And the ending, i cant say without spoiling, but its truly a Royal one for a man named King.

While it may be cool to some though...the ending basically killed its box office.
