It is a twist of history, the US never officially owned Hawaii and Hawaii never capitulated to the US or to Britain, they were however allies of the
British, there is a treatis some where and flew they the British flag as an Adopted sign of there allegiance, the US invaded by the Back door, white
settlers' and US business men had a coup and deposed the sitting Hawaiian monarch, many Hawaiian's whom are financially most often the poorest members
of Hawaiian society protest this injustice to this day and there is both strong sentiment and a strong intent among the native Hawaiian's to regain
there independence but as they are the minority in there own nation's just as the native American's are stateside that is simply never going to
happen.
Plus in most other way's they are essentially just American's today, thousand's of Hawaiian's have moved Stateside in the year's since this coup and
they probably have a more US centric view than there brother's and sister's living still in Hawaii.
Go back far enough and every bit of land on this planet once belonged to another people, there may even be link's between ice age Europe, even the
British Isle's and at least some native American hereditary legacy, the Reindeer herders and other tribed of the arctic circle in Europe and Siberia
still make Tepee style tent's identical to there Native American cousin's and there ceremony's thoug morphed still have a lot in common with the
native people's ceremony's of the America's.
There is even a theory that the Polynesian people's, Hawaii, New Zealand and most other inhabited island peoples of the pacific (though there may be
two distinct genetic strain's indicating either two origin's or two waves of people) may have originated in what is today southern India and Arabia
though it is also possible there was a link to south american seafarer's.
