We have apparently decided as a culture that "being gay" is an okay thing.

Um. You are missing the point. It is illegal to possess crack, whether or not he later becomes president of the USA. The fact that this story was ignored has nothing to do with political correctness about gays. That's beside the point. It's about:

protecting the reputations of people in high political office who have commited crimes.

Not really. It's about someone being gay, maybe, which is no longer illegal. The crack reference is for extra bonus points. The statute of limitations has long run its course on the crack. Further, all you have is hearsay evidence. Based on the evidence does anyone believe a prosecutor could obtain a conviction here? No? Then it doesn't matter.

The way I see it 1.) Obama is probably predominantly gay. 2.) He definitely was a heavy user of pot when he was much younger with his "Shroom Gang." 3.) He probably did crack, at least experimentally. 4.) His history, including his parentage, probably isn't what is officially said about him, and 5.) It no longer matters. The ship has sailed. it's now for historians to ponder how a failed state senator and one-time US senator with no accomplishments to speak of and incapable of speaking in public without a teleprompter could possibly have been made into a President of the United States.
