No, they derive their powers from we, the people. The Constitution puts limits on the power of the Federal government and outlines how the President can be removed from office if necessary. Richard Nixon lost his popular mandate and look what happened. Trump is starting out without one.

Again, there is no such thing as the popular mandate except in your mind. It does not exist. The President Elect will have the powers provided by the Constitution, plus the 'weaponsized' bureaucracy created by the Obama Administration.

You have to admit, there is a little Karmic justice in the fact that in some way, people are questioning the legitimacy of a Donald presidency.

The so called popular vote is only a foolish tool to use as a wedge to divide people, since it is irrelevant to the way the election laws work in the USA, so continuing on with it, as if it is some kind of salve to treat your sour grapes feeling, well, I suppose that is useful.
But it doesn't address the real issue that if the left and the Clinton's, and the exposed corrupt as sin media hadn't been so dirty and deceitful to all opposition, that they wouldn't be in this situation to begin with, then they wouldn't have any need to clutch after the straw of the popular vote as a medicinal ingredient. They should be addressing and trying to cure what caused their illness, so what do they do? They re-elect Nancy Pelosi.

That wound is going to keep on stinging for awhile, (and producing more bacteria).
