Everyone has something bad about them, some worse than others but honestly the reason I was never as much against trump is because he just says what's on his mind, and doesn't care to be careful and cautious in his ways. He's straightforward, to the point, and sometimes a bit dopey but dopey never was the worst crime.

Leave it to the media to misrepresent so many things, though. For instance the disabled reporter incident - its since been proven that's just how donald trump impersonates a flustered person.

Racism? I'd really have to look more into it, but many people of all parties dislike illegal immigration - different people have different ideas on how refugee aid and immigration should work, but disliking illegal activities isn't the worst crime I can think of...

Not to mention, he's willing to profile. In some neighborhoods, you're straight up way more likely to be attacked by a black person, a Hispanic - Muslims from specific regions that support sharia law are to their very core against American values.. These are facts, not racism or bigotry.

Anyways what I'm getting at is that people value and endorse their own view of Donald trump, not your own.

I understand Bluesma. I have friends that live outside the USA - they're incredulous and dismayed

You understand (as does most of the world) it was only just over half the country. The other half is still here

We're in a weird place now - and it's not only here the United States

Do you mean this? I've just been a witness to 8 long years of nastiness that was aimed at anything that moved or breathed if it was on the left

I honestly was under the impression that that part was sort of recognized and agreed upon by everyone- including his supporters. I thought he was very proud of these attitudes and made no attempt to hide them.

Was that a mistaken impression then? The people in Europe tend to all have the idea that what motivated those who supported him was that even though they perceived these aspects to his positions and character, they appreciated the honesty. -And they wanted to sort of "make a statement" about their discontent.

As an american myself, I could imagine the appreciation of the honesty- for the same reason the first album I ever bought was the Sex Pistols, and as a young parent, I was crazy about Eminem - I like rebels, I like those who tear the lid off of taboos and hypocrisy, who make us face ourselves honestly. I think clowns and coyotes are a necessary part of a community. So I kinda got it that far.

Except I couldn't get to the point of people taking that so far as to decide to make the coyote the iconic leader of the one of the most powerful nations in the world. The symbol, the calling card, the icon you put out to the world to say "This is what we hope to be, ideally".

But I hear you saying you never saw him expressing such things as racism, sexism, lack of compassion or empathy, etc.
That sheds some light on it then. These aspects seemed very outright to me in his speeches and behaviors- I didn't even think he tried to hide them. But maybe I need to re-look at those and see if I can perceive them as you did.

I think his ever changing stance on things let people identify with him to the extent that they felt comfortable.

The fact is that those people who might be at the extremes have always been there. They were given an outlet that was a bit more visible but I don't foresee things changing all that much.

what one may desire for himself is dangerous for others that he fails to consider what his desire brings to them.
noone is so special that anyone else does not matter.

... maybe you are just not articulate enough , or too lazy to, to make any effort to help another understand what the have misinterpretted?

Who knows, if you prefer to leave people to guess, it's pretty much expected you're gonna feel misunderstood. That is your choice.

Thankfully there are others out there that were willing to make the tiny effort instead.
