I'm opening this thread in hopes that someone can shed some light and/or give me some insight into something my brother experienced last night.

While at home in his upper east side apartment (Manhattan) my brother and his wife were watching television at around 9:30 p.m. The apartment is a first floor apartment with two windows with views of a small overgrown courtyard area located in the back of the building. In front on the left window is the bottom of the fire escape stairs with no access to the window itself.

Both my brother and his wife heard a distinct rhythmic tapping of 4. It repeated 4 times before my brother decided to get up and see if someone was trying break in. His wife, still on the couch starts screaming because she then see's a physical outline of something/someone emerge withon the window. My brother then feels a force what he describes as a "water wave in mid air" pressing against him as he progrossed faster toward the window. He felt the presence so intensely that he did what he thought was best and actually pushed/punched the window until it broke all over the place.

Does anyone have any idea if there is a significance into the number of taps? Any advice? Has anyone ever experienced something like this?

Knocks have significance. But this seems rather Dramatic, without any other information it is hard to tell just what was going on.

More information is necessary.

Things use water, mirrors even windows under certain condition to ah visit, but again there has to be a reason. This just does not happen on it's own in a 1 way manner.

Traditionally in the parapsychology world...its 3 knocks from a negative entity as a form of "Let me in"...or "I want in".

A not good-nasty thing to happen too. I know I'd be on edge....just dont knock back!

Oh...and 4 knocks? Probably mice....!

Eastern Europe has a lot of knock, knock, knock, knocking going on.

en.wikipedia.org...

One time, CBS News man Dan Rather had some individuals keep asking him " What's the frequency Kenneth "

The song came from that incident.

I might also ask, if this is an apt do they know if they have any budding young OTO, AA, GD or Enocian Magicians nearby?

Might explain the knocks. The rest i just need more information.

[also 3 knocks there are many superstitions about not 4.]

I have no idea.

Sounds like he stood up, the wife saw his reflection in the window and screamed, adrenaline rushed over him and he punched the glass.

I don't know the significance of 4 knocks, but according to Tony Orlando, 3 knocks possibly means the ghost wants you!

Are you the 4th Piggy that Mr Rent Wolf-man wants to collect his dues from ?

Maybe it was a Jehovahs Witness as a wolf in sheep clothing and a djinn (air elemental) gave you a air-blast pulse wave.
