Since I am new.....

How do you raise your resistance that I see on the left hand side of the screen and how do I get a picture? You'll have to forgive the seemingly dumb questions but how do you learn if you don't ask questions, right?

The "picture" that I think you mean is called an Avatar, check out this thread to help you:

To increase the Resistance meters, these are based on your time on the board, posting, visitation to forums, etc.

This will gradually increase based on your time and contribution to the board.
