haven't you noticed that ATS is changed ? That there are now so many political threads

What happened to to Alien ufo's tracks.
Well I tell ya they go all derailed.
Not Debunkers Not Sceptics Not shills. Just people that want to stirr up the fry.

Now you come here expecting to discuss about 'out of the box' stuff like UFO aliens whatever and what happens.
A talking orifrice comes along. Pretending to be interested in the thread while in fact just derailing the thread.
Calling again and again everything and everyone ludcrilous insane made idiot etc making them loose interest in the tread... I look at his fk threads... he even admits he's a shill... Gets stars that way just by attacking the very thing that ATS was all about the unknown the outside the Criminal mainstream media stuff..

it's just uhhh....

For me, the prevalence of cell phone cameras has really diminished my belief in the majority of those topics.

Everyone has a cell phone camera these days...and yet we get no good visual evidence of anything.

We'll just have to wait until 10 or so days after the election for whatever losing side to calm down and then all will return to normal.

Honestly I think it is because this current election is kind of like all of the conspiracy we could be talking about roped all into one.

All of the conspiracies on this forum find their way back to the NWO in one way shape or form.

What we are witnessing in this "selection" cycle is everything being exposed.

It is kind of hard to focus upon any other subject considering that we are at a crucial crossroads, one leading to justice, one leading to War.

Add to that, the increase of Shills that are quite busy doing what you say.

Pandora's box of truth has been opened, we shall continue to see light shed upon every subject we have been kept in the dark about.

At least that is the vibe that I am getting!

Because we are caught up on a mighty crap tsunami, a grand edifice of turd moving toward us at a pace which staggers the mind and which brutalises the psyche, and people all over the site are worried about BOTH the potential outcomes of this wave breaking across the shores of their lives, with damned good reason.

The worst political circumstances in the recent history of American internal poltitics are what we are dealing with these days. It is little wonder that people have no time for anything else, because no matter which way you cut it, this election is a game of Russian roulette (the aptness of that particular phrase should not be lost on you) in which there are TWO out of five hot chambers, not one, and where the game is rigged to virtually ensure that at least one major voting group will find their figurative brains being emptied out at ballistic pace.

There has not, in my recollection, been such division and deception from all sides of the political compass, not been such lies and deceits, nor such witlessness and extreme danger involved with the potential outcomes of a presidential election for generations and generations. This is THE big deal, biggest kahuna of all the kahunas. It is also the most vast conspiracy against reason and freedom there has ever been. We will be picking the bones and the organs out of this beast of a foul up for time to come yet.

Batten down the hatches, strap in, and for Gods sake hold on to something. Things are going to get bumpy.

Nothing will be normal again. Whoever wins will take us to WW3. That's what most of the threads will be about.

What sticks out to me is the apparent decline in the overall intelligence of the average member these days. Every election cycle we see members gravitate towards all threads political, but this time around it's different.

It's as if most everyone has been whacked over the head with the stupid club a few times. New members especially (but some old pros as well, unfortunately), fewer and fewer people are heeding the ATS motto--something I don't think can be blamed solely on the election. Is this something that just comes with increased popularity and, therefore, a more diverse membership base?

What does that say about the general public?

In any event, it's a damned shame.

Simply put, the need of a member of a social group to identify with a particular subset within that over arching social group, can often be stronger than the most noble elements it possesses.

It is for that very reason, that I expected many more members to throw their weight behind third parties, rather than accept the hegemony for what it is. I expected many more members to allow their better aspects to win out, rather than accept the control exerted over them by societal pressure. I expected many more members to ignore the financial cost of doing the right thing, and do it anyway.

However, I cannot blame those who have pinned their colours to the mast of one or another candidate. Realistically speaking, the money that has been spent both by campaigns, and by news media organisations to ensure the slavery of the people to a false pretense has been staggering in volume, and buys an awfully effective barrage of psychological manipulation.

I'm afraid so ! I'm also afraid that ATS will decline further. The 'old' alternative subject are being ridiculed by the ever increasing amount of shills. And most good members that were interested in that 'stuff' still on ATS are producing less 'alternative' ATS threads. What's left is the same humdrum like I see on other non conspiracy sites.

here's the thing. You were able to post a thread asking why the threads you like aren't here.

What if.......

Instead, you posted a thread of something along the lines you enjoy reading? Then you could change the tide a bit. This election is juicy, but it will be over in a few days, and the trolls and idiots will move on to greener pastures. But anytime you feel like there isn't enough of some type of post, step up and make one.

There's some observational truth in what you say and there's an obvious and easy solution. I actually stumbled across it a few years ago after battling with a person across several pages of a thread. We fought for days tit-for-tat and wanting, needing the Holy Last Word. I would literally be composing rebuttals in my mind at work lol

It was a low moment. Like Marty McFly when Biff taunts, "Are you chicken, McFly?" Like a puppet, Marty goes and does the stupid thing.

I haven't wasted a moment on members like that since then. It's the solution. What's the point of arguing with someone who's already made their mind up? Will it kill someone to ignore a 'debunker' post? Will the (round) world end if a Flat Earther post is allowed to stand unanswered? Will a good space thread stop being good because one post calls NASA liars? Atheists can't kill Bible threads if they're ignored and staunch Creationists can't affect a thread on the latest discovery in evolution.

Threads can only be derailed by two or more members. It's impossible for one member to do it alone; they need to have responses.

Solution = Do not reply to members you regard as trolls.

ETA - I notice you've written two 'alternative' threads which were very successful. You've posted a half dozen that criticise ATS. 1:3 ratio. I think NetworkDude's advice is something you could read again.

Auwww... that hurts (it should be 3:1 ) but...Well you're right about that! maybe it's better for me to stay away from ATS to be honest I find ATS any fun anymore. I had hoped it was the same as it was in the past stayed for over 8 months on ATS with this account and to be honest... with all the elections it isn't that exiting/mind boggling no more.
Ok maybe it's me or not. I'll Look back in next year or so...

Try to spend more time in threads that don't deal with politics. I've tried and often find that I'm in one. Part of being a mod is being dragged into political threads by alerts - sometimes end up posting and often regret it!!

Still, it's a better experience (for me) to focus on teh alternative topics. I've posted about 150 threads and not one in the politics forums.

What a lot of us are seeing is a shift in interest on ATS. It's changed because most members want it to change. If most members want to return to 'alternative topics' they'll take us back there. You, me and everyone else can be that change, but it's a majority thing and most want to talk politics.

They're still here. They just aren't on the front page as much.

Check out the Breaking Alternative News forum, and all the other individual forums. Sure it takes the convenience out of the equation, but it's worth it imho.

Because control of what we see and read is complete. Just like it used to be in the land before inter webs when the only information we got was form TV, radio and newspapers.

You think they just gave up trying?

I agree, I also never new how many ignorant people there are on this site! Sad!! In a few days the elections will be over, after that we will have about a month of people saying the election was rigged, and then it should die down. Then maybe we can talk about something else!
