Look, there's a lot of metaphors to describe watching partisan US politics from outside the USA.
Especially if you have US friends from both sides on social media and so forth.

My metaphor was: there comes a time just to stand-back and watch them duke it out (like two dudes on a team who don't get along, and suddenly have a skirmish in the locker-room).
When they are done, you still wanna be friends with both.
It wasn't your issue either way.

But that's all irrelevant soon.
Almost time for the results, and the world must make do either way.

But anyway, that was my metaphor and take on it.
Watching people fight, but you don't wanna get involved.
