It depends, are you voting on character or policy? The problem with voting on policy is that you know what you prefer, but you don't actually know
what is most beneficial, or even if something is beneficial. It's all a guessing game in the never ending quest for ideological purity. A lot of
people are happy with ideological purity, or rather with the ideal of it... but when problems remain it causes people to look at each other as not
being pure enough as the cause of problems.
On the other hand, voting on character means you'll probably elect someone who genuinely wants to do well and won't screw people over.
Personally, I vote more on character than policy.
The way I see it, if you think a candidate is honest, responsible, and you can find some common ground... vote for them.
If you agree with a candidate on everything, then get your head examined.
