boy dies 2 weeks after contracting Polio like disease

Daniel Rameriz first thought he had a stomach ache..he was in the hospital oct 15th with slurred speech incontinance, leg pain and drooling, they ran tests and he was found to have AFM acute flaccid myelitis....the disease was idientied first a couple of years ago after 100 children wrere hospitalized...

the boy and his family live in washington state...poor boy suffered 2 strokes and he was pronounced brain dead.....drs don't know the cause of this disease...Daniel is 1 of 8 children admitted to seattle hospital for the same thing ( 2 still there and 5 have gone home)

Although officials do not know the specific cause of the illness, the CDC reports that the polio-like illness is most similar to illnesses caused by enteroviruses, West Nile virus, herpesvirus, and the adenovirus.

Man! I haven't seen a good biological scare in awhile, S&F.

Every time I hear about a new virus or other bug, I suspect it has escaped from a military lab somewhere. This one sounds like it has potential to spread to me.

Or maybe you should NOT have accepted the flu shot. If the CDC recommends you receive a flu shot once a year, and the IRS lobbies against it only if "married filing jointly" and taxable income is more than $150,000, don't get a flu shot.

I refused the flu shot at my last Dr's visit. I rarely get sick and I've only had a serious flu a few times in my now long life. One of the nurses refuses to get her family the shot, I bet she had to get it herself (maybe not, IDK).

I was warned against the flu vaccination by a very wise medical specialist. Doctors get very upset when they offer the flu shot and you tell em a specialist warned against it.

And yes , all of those and more diseases have made returns including the black plague , measles , mumps , chicken pocks...
As long as the Spanish flu does not return , mankind should be just fine.

I live in Seattle (if you hadn't already guessed that) - and this has been all over the news. According to this Seattle Times Article, 9 children in the state (so far) have been hospitalized with this "mysterious polio-like illness".
The article makes sure to point out that there is no link to childhood vaccinations:

Graham specifically noted there is no apparent link with being recently vaccinated against common childhood illnesses. “There is no evidence with AFM that people who are vaccinated are any more or less likely to come down with AFM,” she said.

When I was 18, I was paralyzed by Guillain-Barre Syndrome, and ended up hospitalized due to complete paralysis for more than 9 months. Several years of physical therapy were required to learn how to walk, talk, etc. It was frightening and left me with painful and debilitating nerve damage in my extremities and face. I mention this here because I remember how terrified I was at the onset of the GBS. Doctors were mystified, friends stayed away, and I thought my life was over. These kids and their families are going through HELL right now- not knowing is the worst part of it.

I wish these children a speedy recovery if possible! Hang in there!

As a side note: GBS can be triggered by the Zika Virus AND Flu Vaccinations (something that is probably hidden somewhere in the fine print).

Things like that are troublesome.
my thoughts and prayers...

I had to stop and pray for a moment...

are focused upon the friends and family
of that child and their untimely loss.

Rest assured, the boy child resides
closely with the creator now.
He is in a place that we can only
describe as "heaven'.

Oddly enough, he will be the first to
welcome his next of kin and beloved
when it is their turn.
With open arms I might add.

ITs a huge mystery and people are starting to pay attention in the medical community. Our Intensivists were briefed the other day and we will hear from them on Friday

Its possible or another disease that we have not seen in so long its erased from our collective memories.
