I don't know about all of you and I know I have been seen in the threads I am talking about, but at the rate of being extremely hypocritical and throwing myself under the bus at the same time, wouldn't you just love to have an "IGNORE TOPIC" button so you didn't have to even see them?

Currently the elections and debates and emails and sexual innuendo concerning the POTUS has been run into the ground and I for one would rather we find something else besides rigged and wikileaks threads to focus our attention on.

Come on powers that be give us a big old ignore button to click on when we see these threads littering the shrine of ATS! Please, with sugar, whipped cream and a cherry on top?

I hibernate betweem ATS sessions. My last approach here was the community was all about finding things in mars photos, ancient civiliztions and free energy. Things I like. Then I drifted back into limbo. After some time, I come back to a quasi politic infested site. Wth man? My comfort zone is aliens, not politics.

If you want an echo chamber just turn on the MSM.

Browse the 'Aliens and UFOs' sub-forum only then? You can even add it to your favorites if think a couple of clicks is too much work.

There used to be one, before the present iteration of the website UI.

It was removed, I think, because people would inadvertently hide forums and not know how to get them back, as the button was hard to see.

Not 100% sure that was the reason, but that is how it was explained to me.

I agree that it would be good to have it added as a feature once again.

See if the "off" button on your computing device works.

I wish you could star posts in this forum.

BUILD one!

Set up your favorite forums so that they show within "My ATS". Then just click on "My ATS" and you will only see the forums you want and the threads you have replied to.

It's just a matter of doing the work for yourself.

There was one, not anymore and I miss it too.
To those who critizise this option - I, for example, am not American and I´m really not THAT interested in this election circus that I would want to see massive amount of threads on my front page for months. Discussion about politics and leaking documents are important, but I´d like to see more other topics too. I know I can go to subforums I´m interested, but the "hide this thread/forum" button was really good thing to personalise this page for individual interests.

I have an 'ignore' button. It is in my brain. When I see a title I don't want to open, it automatically declines to open it and my fingers obey.

I agree with the OP.

it is not about a safezone or putting your ass in the air (while putting your head in the sand)
It is not feasible to do on myATS either.
It is all about being lazy and dont waste your own or anyone else their time.
Just a simple button to say I'm done with this particular thread (not a complete subforum) would grant you acces to all new and ongoing or unread threads without boxing in your view unto certain topics. Kinda like a ShizzBlocker.

Ok I can live without it and it certainly doesn't have to come back like it was before, blocking complete subfora without a clear way to get them back. But it would make it easier for quite a few users to just unhighlight (make them a different less focusing color on the recent pages) so everyone personally can easily browse through their interest and we can all hide how Hillary Trump raped the End of times in Quadruple Mandela effects using Ancient statues that look like Martian Rocks You know because their Wiki leaked Anonymously as Revealed in Dreams of Prophecy... But I don't know because it was a letter circulating in the Kremlin.

I know there is a choice to go to specific topics on the home page.

But it's not prominent enough.

I would prefer a selectable choice of home pages. So we have a choice between "Classic ATS" or "Politics and Current Events"

Classic ATS would show the conspiracy, paranormal and UFO type topics that are popular.

Political and Current Events (we have about 8 or 9 forums dedicated purely to politics alone) can concentrate on the stuff that tends to dominate the home page at the moment.

Politics and news are important. I have no problem with people wanting to discuss it. But that's not the reason I come to ATS

You often see rants about how poor the quality of posts are on ATS compared to 5-10 years ago. I thinks some of that is because of the "Classic ATS Topics" becoming stifled from the front page and we never get to see some very interesting posts. So they get few replies and even fewer flags and stars. Eventually people will get disinterested in writing them because no one is reading them. It's a vicious circle.

We've seen these rants pretty consistently since 2003 or 2004.

lol Springer, that doesn't make them necessarily untrue! Just means you've seen them consistently.

It's honestly mind-blowing though that ATS was established in 1997! It's actually impressive and awe inspiring. I've always loved you guys, always
