Yeah, and bonus: He's already proven he has no problem lying. See 2003.

Odd, I don't think Colin Powell is a war criminal.

Do tell. His little yellow vial speech in the UN to convince everyone the necessity of invading Iraq, came at a critical juncture to sway public opinion.

"Well, If even Powell thinks theres a threat, lets go".

I remember that very clearly. Invading other countries under false pretenses, 'not a war crime'.

Gotcha, 'real drama'.

Hi KJ!

Yah, If Powell supports her its too obvious. I can only surmise they figured no-one would remember the false pretenses Iraq was invaded for and why they keep picking on little country after little country over there.

He reminds me of a black Spock....

He would have been a better president than Obama.

Maybe Hillary viewed him more as actual competition than just a token vice-president.

After the way the Bush admin threw Powell under the bus when he made the case for Iraqi WMD's at the UN , is it any wonder Powell will never vote Republican again? A no -brainier really.

And why is that?

According to Military Times, overall in the military, Trump is only ahead 1.1% in a poll with a 2% margin of error. When you break it down by officers polled only, Trump loses to Johnson, (T)26.0% to (J)38.6% (hell, even Clinton beats Trump in that segment of the military, with 27.9%). It is in the enlisted ranks where Trump edges out Johnson, (T)39.8% to (J)36.1%.

By branch, the Navy and Air Force have Johnson beating Trump relatively decisively (Navy by 13.9%, Air Force by 3%), and the Army has him losing to Trump by 5%, and the biggest outlier of them all, the Marines go for Trump over Johnson by a whopping 23.7%).

So, when you look at this poll alone, I was mistaken--they are virtually tied in the military.

But in other polls (a couple of which are linked to below), Johnson is the winner amongst military personnel, although it seems that most of them are non-scientific online polls, so take them with a grain of salt, I guess.

The Hill: (J)38.7%, (T)30.9%, (C)14.1%

This write-up from Reason cites polls with Johnson ahead of Trump, but does a good job discussion reasons why those online polls are unscientific and should be taken lightly.

But my point is still relatively proven in the Military Times poll and in my own personal experience with the veterans and active-duty Soldiers with whom I still discuss politics--Trump and Johnson are in a statistical tie when taking the margin of error into account, and many of those military personnel with whom I discuss the election say that even though they prefer Johnson's politics, they are voting for Trump in protest against a Hillary presidency (which, in an online poll, would show up as a notch on the percentage for Trump). I'm uncertain if you're implying that I'm no longer "on a roll" because I brought up Gary Johnson, or because you disagree with the claim that I made, but you'll have a very difficult time proving my claim wrong.

Care to elaborate? I know/think that you're a fan of neither Trump nor Johnson, but hopefully you didn't just call me out because you don't like the guy.

Right, because intelligent people should always vote based on hurt feelings in lieu of what they believe is best for the country.

On balance Powel played the role of loyal solider at the UN. In doing so he trashed his historical legacy. So it's only natural Powel would harbor a grudge. It's not like anybody has reached to Powel in the way former Australian Prime Minsters Gough Whitlam and Malcolm Fraser were good friends. Oh and for the record I in no way think American voters should follow Powel lead.

I'm glad that you don't think people should follow Powell's lead, but it still represents the point that basing one's vote (seemingly) on hurt feelings is a terrible way to vote.

(sorry for the late follow up)

I'm not surprised at all. Most of the higher up military likes Clinton. Trump trots out a retired general or two, but for the most part the military is going to support the person who has the better foreign policy, and that's Hillary. It's really only the lower ranks that support Trump, which is normal for there to be a divide between the higher/lower ranks of an organization (though in most the support is flipped).
