You walk here as shadows fall around this place of silence and serenity.
Words no longer spoken, where bones lay sleeping and souls fly free in some ethereal realm.
Their lives were lived, like stories unfolding from a book, some still told by those left behind, others gone so long that there is no one left to tell their tale. Sometimes we see their resting place and wonder what their stories were about, how they lived their lives, what they looked like, whos lives they touched. Were their lives hard or filled with wonder and joy? You leave a gift of flowers for the ones you know and love and walk away into your own life, as your own story unfolds and the pages turn.

and from a shadow, lurks a stranger, silently weeping over their own beloved, feelings of shame and guilt for lack of love shown when they had the chance, wishing and hoping they could turn back the time, not take for granted what was once there to find, the dream is shattered and left tattered, back into the shadows they recess.

You make walking in the cemetery excitingly peaceful.

A stroll that lets the life spirits surround us, waiting for a memory to bring them back to life.

If only temporarily.

They love being remembered.

Very nicely put. You're one of my favorites. S&F.

I know it's a rough time for you. I was reminded of this poem earlier and thought I'd share it with you.
I may have a long time ago but, it doesn't hurt to hear it again.

((hugs))

Beautiful poem Kat! Lunch sounds great!

The musings in my writing was inspired by the many times a friend and I would walk through our loved ones cemetery. We would often stop and look at some of the very old headstones and wonder about them and their lives and of life and death. And of course being the day after the anniversary of my Mother's death, I was inspired to write this.
