A compromise has been reached. It stops short of ordering the Pentagon to forgive all debts related to enlistment bonuses and student loan benefits,
but it puts the onus on the Pentagon to prove that the soldier knew, or reasonably should have known they were ineligible. Since the Pentagon would
have to contact every one of them, and attempt to prove that, the most likely route forward will be forgiving most of the debts. This includes the
Pentagon contacting credit and collection agencies and correcting any adverse affect. They have until July to review all the debts and determine
which need to be repaid.
