If you mean, were they lying about what was going on? Probably. Whether they were lying about where they were when they reported it, is rather less of
an issue if you ask me.
The op reminds me of when Garaldo, while suffering the "fog of war",
reported on a friendly fire incident that hadn't happened yet.
Maybe he was just in the wrong town but as they say, don't let the facts stand in the way of a good story.
