Nuclear war isn't going to happen. No matter how high tensions get between the US and Russia, we won't go to war. There might be proxy wars like in
Syria but we won't directly attack each other.
Actually, there's little reason for two nuclear powered nations to ever invade each other. The one use of nuclear weapons that the world would
sanction is defensively nuking your own territory in order to repel an invading army. That is why the US and Russia will never actually attack each
other with actual armies.
However, there's a new type of war starting and the US is pretty far behind. It's cyber warfare. If an attack ever happens, this is how it will
happen. A major cyber attack that wipes out infrastructure and finance. It would freeze supply lines, cities would starve in hours, and people would
overthrow their government within days. If Russia wanted to take out the US government (or vice versa) a sustained cyber attack is how it would be
done. No invading armies, just citizens overthrowing their government.
