"Some are new to politics completely. They’re children of the Great Recession. And they are living in their parents’ basement," she said. "They feel they got their education and the jobs that are available to them are not at all what they envisioned for themselves. And they don’t see much of a future." Facebook

I don't see the problem with this statement.

"And on the other side, there’s just a deep desire to believe that we can have free college, free healthcare, that what we’ve done hasn’t gone far enough, and that we just need to, you know, go as far as, you know, Scandinavia, whatever that means, and half the people don’t know what that means, but it’s something that they deeply feel."

She just called Bernie's supporters a bunch of freeloaders who want to be even bigger freeloaders.

Mitt Romney's 47% is a correct analogy.

Yep, but Hillary fans just keep excusing her mocking generalisations. At the same time, if Trump criticises a single person they MAKE it a generalisation in order to bash him.

So you point out the generalizations of one group by generalizing them. Nice.

So you make generalizations about someone who is pointing out generalisations of one group by generalizing another. Nice.

Greetings-

I've noticed that this whole divisive activity is running along some devious script. The whole "We vs. Them" is old and tired. I propose that We work together and not elect EITHER Clinton NOR Trump, who then? Simple....

OPRAH

This way the Trumps and Clintons could work on their respective family issues sans the scrutiny of the eyes of the Media, sure it would totally suck for Miz Clinton after purchasing their favors but I've heard Her say "I've dedicated My life to the people..." She also claims to be intelligent? Can't She see for herself how divided the US has become?

Drumpf on the other hand has His own 'issues' if You cannot see that Yourself I don't know what I could add. The numerous bits on social media are turning to be more and more of false reports, this doesn't do the Trumpsters any favors.

I also must note My personal fortune. I keep reading that these 2 candidates are acting like either 'grade school kids' and I also read they were running their campaigns that reminded one person of their 8th grade year.. I'm fortunate because the kids who ran for politics and the schools I attended NEVER acted as infantile as both of these CROOKS

Until Oprah gets on the list I'm still casting for "Ms. YouBOTHSUCK" Voting for either of the aforementioned would have Me tossing and turning.. No Dice! I've got a conscience.

The great Recession, is really the great Depression, nothing has improved since Wall street was inflating the housing bubble by buying sub prime mortguages that were being massaged into tripple AAAs,then selling them offshore, before it hit the fan. That means the financial sector of America is being run by idiots and or fraudsters.Probably both. The actual taxpayer paid off this mess...and not much has changed. The whole thing is based on Fraud. The fraudulent unemployment statistics, are typical, of the double speak. When a conjourer plays a trick on you, the first thing to bear in mind is to watch for the diversion, to take your concentration off of the trick they are trying to play.Terrorism, is the old protection racket.Elections that make you feel empowered, but dont make any difference whatsoever.Casualisation of labour, by screaming that Mexicans are pouring over the border and taking your jobs, but doing nothing about it because they like the cheap labour. The fact is, this requires a grass roots solution at local levels, because Government can and will do nothing but the same old thing.

That doesn't even make sense because I didn't make a generalization. (facepalm)

It would only be a generalisation if some Hillary fans did not display the behaviour mentioned. As they all do, without exception, it's not.

I cant believe Bernie SUPPORTS Clinton after what she did with the DNC emails, his policies were more like Trumps minus global warming. I cant believe Bernie supporters are voting Clinton after all that, I can understand them voting Stein or Gary but Hillary is against everything they want like rescheduling cannabis she is NOT for and her free college bs is a lie..

I can't stand Clinton, can't stand trump either, but when I read this it sounded to me as though she was sounding off concern not malice.

From what I read, she is blaming the great recession for the situation the millennials are in, and I think she is sympathizing with them.

So she says:

Some are new to politics completely. They’re children of the Great Recession. And they are living in their parents’ basement," she said. "They feel they got their education and the jobs that are available to them are not at all what they envisioned for themselves. And they don’t see much of a future.

Sounds slightly sympathetic to me.
I do not like Clinton at all.. but i'd have to agree it doesent seem maliciously intended

The big story here is that she obviously has no plans to ever actually do Bernie's free college plan.

Adding a watered down version to her campaign platform was the main way she made peace with most of the Berners. Clearly, it's just a lie, just like her supposedly being against TPP now.

And that is what Hillary thinks about Millennials and Sanders supporters in general and she wants your vote, LOL. Just like the black vote. She only sees you as a vote and nothing else. She'll get your votes, pander to you, make promises and bye bye, not heard from again and zero promises happen.

Thank you for giving the context to the phrase.

Hillary doesn't always have the "best words" as The Donald does, but she does understand things he does not.

Here in Calif we don't have many basements lol, but we do have bedrooms to which our children had to return, or from which they couldn't leave right away, after the Great Recession started. Here many of my friends' children indeed had to return home after college at the start of the GR, or had to stay home w/o the job to be able to move out. There were entire extended families who had work hours reduced or had lost jobs and had to move in together back then, each family living in a different room or sleeping on a living room sofa.

Because Hillary's phrase was taken out of context, people immediately were made to assume she referred to the old meme of the young slacker gamer who refused to leave the parent's basement. And then the howls of outrage started up. Put back in context, she did not refer to that meme!

Her words may not be the best, but her understanding of situations definitely is.

Very well written. Thank you. I do not get anything negative from this, and I think it actually presents Clinton in a positive light expressing some appreciation for the plight of the generation. There are plenty of negative things to be said about Team Clinton, but I do not see this as one of them when we hear her in context.
