But ever since he got the nomination, he seems to be bringing more and more establishment people on board, and that is troubling to me.

However, I still think Hillary is the ultimate establishment candidate. But it is sad that we do not have better options than this during this election.

Well you won't get much disagreement from me (or if the polls are any indication, much of anyone) about how poor our chocies are. I know that as of a fews months ago, these two were breaking historical records in terms of their low favorability.

As for Trump. Even in terms of the purely political establishment, he's been steeped in it since his mid-20s. Roy Cohn was extremely well connected on both sides of the aisle and in many levels of government. Then he meets Roger Stone six years later? In terms of the political establishment, you don't get much deeper than Stone and his friends. I really can't even begin to explain just how many campaigns, scandals (on both ends), smear campaigns, etc he's been involved in.

This is what he was already up to at the age of 19:

He was just nineteen when he played a bit part in the Watergate scandals. He adopted the pseudonym Jason Rainier and made contributions in the name of the Young Socialist Alliance to the campaign of Pete McCloskey, who was challenging Nixon for the Republican nomination in 1972. Stone then sent a receipt to the Manchester Union Leader, to “prove” that Nixon’s adversary was a left-wing stooge. Stone hired another Republican operative, who was given the pseudonym Sedan Chair II, to infiltrate the McGovern campaign. Stone’s Watergate high jinks were revealed during congressional hearings in 1973, and the news cost Stone his job on the staff of Senator Robert Dole.

That's not even where he got his start. He started his career as a political operative at the age of 13 volunteering for William F. Buckley, Jr's failed mayorial campaign. To hear him tell it though it goes back even further (though I'm almost positive he's making this up):

"Well, you have to understand, there were no kids my age, male or female, for 25 miles. I suppose I could have thrown a football with my dad," Stone says, "but my old man left at 5 a.m. and came back at 9 p.m. But he ate his supper and fell to bed and he was covered with grease from head to foot and he never complained a day in his life. You have to amuse yourself."

Stone did. In the 1960 election -- before he could spell the word "ideology" -- his school held a mock vote. He was a Kennedy fan and he campaigned for the guy just the way he would for others in the future.

"I remember going through the cafeteria line and telling every kid that Nixon was in favor of school on Saturdays," Stone says. "It was my first political trick."

Of course with Stone, he embraces it all, the things he did and the things he makes up doing but either way, he's worked for and knows everyone. He's a contract political hit-man and he's one of Trump's oldest friends and for years, his personal lobbyist.

Your thread got me to wondering about Trump’s position on shale fracking for gas production and he is supportive of this; not real surprising given his business background that he would like to produce more natural gas in the U.S. This indicates to me that he would like to compete with Russian natural gas as part of his “make America great again” theme.

Everyone mentioned has been proven successful in negotiating deals and spinning wheels. Could bringing them in as advisors also indicate this competitive spirit instead of just being in Putin’s pocket? It would not be good policy to have advisors that could not negotiate, make successful contacts (“network”) or get things done. The trick is to work with the corrupt and corruptible and not become one yourself.

So what I'm getting is that maybe Trumps presidential campaign is decades in the making? Russian and Ukrainian oligarchs been colluding with some of DCs underground heavy hitters to make things go their way, they had all the right pieces in place and they went for the kill shot by having Donald Trump run for president and the WhiteHouse would become the Kremlins most powerful tool?

My thing is that's a real possibility but with one huge red flag, they picked Trump to be the guy that would make their wildest dreams come true? Something isn't right because all these guys you mentioned may be shady but they ain't dumb, these are some sophisticated high level elites, like a stealth bomber once you see it it's too late on to the next target.

So why old they pick a loudmouth idiotic unsophisticated moron like Trump?

Also @ OP, what's the deal with Lt. General Michael Flynn? This is Trumps top adviser on military, he's pro everything Russia, the guy has dinner with Putin, goes on speaking tours in rooms full of Russian FSB, bashes what the US military does around the world yet has absolutely nothing negative to say about Russia's foreign policy.

To me that was the worst I seen as far as evidence that Trump is doing all this for reasons that have nothing to do wit "Making America Great Again".
