Could always supply disposable rubber gloves at the pump thus alleviate the problem.

Don't know how ecologically friendly that would be and you can bet your arse it would somehow effect petrol price all the same. LoL

Because people gas up and drive off without paying

Huh.
If I don't use my credit card I have to go to the cashier and pay before any gas comes out of the pump.

If you can just start pumping gas at your station...well, they're sort of dumb. I guess.

Used to be. . I'm not up with the times, since I don't drive.

Back on topic. I think any object everyone has touched must have germs, I'm personally turned off having to touch those credit/debit card devices you punch your pin in.

Even adding in a higher gas tax we would still have relatively inexpensive gas since Bayway Refinery is right across from Manhattan. Much of our gas is produced right here.

I could have gone a while without knowing the latest fad in Japanese porn...

Oregon doesn't allow you to pump your own gas, either. I'm lazy, I drive to Oregon and let them pump the gas, it's cheaper, too. Almost a quarter cheaper right now...

Ha, it's like people that can't drive in a roundabout.

I'm American, and the first time I had to drive in a British-style (drive on the left side of the road) roundabout on Grand Cayman Island, I was totally befuddled. The fact that I was driving a car with the steering wheel on the left (as in an American car) did not help.

I was having a tough time intuitively knowing who had the right-of-way through the roundabout, so I just erred on the side of caution and let everyone have the right of way, which made the drivers behind me mad.

Well, Britain is unique when it comes to driving cars so that's actually very understandable.. How did you even get a car like that in Britain? I'd probably be confused as hell too. But just normal roundabouts, I mean that's easy to figure out. It's intuitively easy.

It was on Grand Cayman Island in the Caribbean; they drive on the left side of the road like in the UK. Being near the U.S., U.S.-built cars are probably the bulk of the rental cars that are there.

As for it being intuitive, it probably would have caught on after more than the day of practice that I had, but a flurry of cars merging into the roundabout from different entry points on the left of me rather than cars merging on my right (as they do in the U.S.) made it a bit disconcerting.

Interesting point here.. What happens if you're the last Gas Pumper out of the station, everyones gone home, and you need gas

You pump your own (because you have the training that NJ finds so important). If your boss won't let you pump your own, then you go to another gas station.

Here's a good brain teaser that's sort of related in some tangential way to your post:

Q: If there are only two barbers in town, and one of them has a fantastic haircut, and the other has an awful haircut, which barber should you go to?

A: the one with the bad haircut, because he's the one who gave the other a fantastic haircut.

If the blood has been exposed outside the body for an hour or more, probably the other.

HIV does not survive out of the body very well at all, and it requires you to be exposed to it almost immediately to a cut, nasty abrasion or direct IV/IM for it to take hold, and even then after exposure you can take prep to lower your chance to almost 0% of the virus of taking hold in your body.

So the answer? The germs would most likely be more dangerous, but really only if your have a compromised/lowered or damaged immune system already.
