What is Alt Left?

We all heard of what alt right is by the media. What is alt left then?
Socialists and Communists are left.
None of our major political parties are actually left. Democrats are center right capitalists. Republicans are right wing capitalists.
They are both capitalists. They are both right wing. They are both authoritarian.

What about Libertarian socialists like Noam Chomsky? AnComs? Are they Alt-Left?



Libertarians are the real liberals. Democrats are social progressive.

Alt Left = Anarchists.

I dont believe we will see an Alt Left soon. The Alt Right is above all a Big No to the conversative right, adopting a leftist approach on some of the themes. If you look at Italy you will find houses occupied by Extreme Right Wingers called Casapound, they even have solidarity towards the poor people on their neighbourhoods, provided support for the people during the most recent italian earthquake, things you see mostly in squats occupied by left anarchists/anarcho communists.

The Alt-Left is precisely that which abhors the Alt-Right and vice-versa.

They have polarised opinion without actually changing position, quite the magical feat there really.

Alt-Left can be demonstrated by Huffington Post and MSNBC.

Then there's unicorns, rainbows, kites and cuddly little puppies.

I'll stick with Alt-Centrist, which is represented by the silent majority and 'swing voters'.

I guess I'd start by asking you what individuals or groups identify themselves with the term "alt left."

The "alt right" term was coined in 2008 by Richard Spencer to describe those that identify with certain precepts of white nationalism.

Who calls themselves "alt left"? That's probably a good place to start.

Are you saying I'm a 'dysfunctional creature'?

If so, you'd best start bringing out the negative case against Gandhi and MLK as well. There are quite a few individuals of note who try to fix some of society's ills. I'm no-one of note, but proud of my accomplishment in that regard.

'Social justice warrior' doesn't just refer to people who 'try to fix some of society's ills.' It encapsulates a specific ideology that includes nonsensical notions like 'safe spaces.'

Gandhi was not a social justice warrior. He supported the Indian caste system that kept the Dalits crushed down at the bottom of the social pecking order.

MLK was not a social justice warrior either. He was one of the world's greatest civil rights activists. Nobody ever heard MLK demanding 'safe spaces' for whiny rich white kids.

As you guys call it a "Social Justice Warrior" is one who whines and complains alot. Not sure how that has anything to do with social or justice or warrior? LOL

But that's just an individual. Someone from any political side--alt Right-moderate-conservative-democrat-republican can be a "whiner/complainer/Social Justice warrior by that definition. Anyone can feel entitled or complain about anything. We dont' need a label for those people really.

Someone also said Huff POst and MSNBC are alt left, but they are just left, just as Fox news and most of talk radio are just right wing. Alt right would be super facist or Nazi and alt left could be hard core socialst or communist. That's generally how I see it.

However, I think most of us consider that environmental activists to be alt left, like sea shephard and greenepiece but are they really socialist or communist? Or just super pro environment?

There is no such thing as alt-left because no one identified THEMSELVES that way. There is no such group. There are plenty of left-leaning groups, just not that one.

There is an Alt-Right group that has self-identified and coined that term for themselves. They are White Nationalists.
