Thread fail. Bummer, I am a Pink Floyd fan, and despite the lack of a sufficient OP and a molested title, I was looking forward to a PF discussion.
I'll check back...given your posting history - I am banking on some sort of malfunction/error - it stands to reason, you'll get back in here and
clean it up and we can get into some Floyd...
Dad came home one day in the 80s and gave me a tape. He said, lie down on this couch, turn it up and play the entire B side of the tape, it's all one
song. He said to imagine a story while the song goes on.
Why? Because regardless of it not being a Pink Floyd album, it is more in the progression of where Floyd were going than anything, absolutely anything
the rest of the band were doing.
You just have to listen to it to understand.

Someone told me many years ago a story about a concert they did, he told me they played so loud that they killed the fishes in the lake by the park
where the concert took place.
Am a huge Floyd head. Have all their albums in many formats collected over the years. (By the way their third LP is "More," but it was a soundtrack so
I'll let it slide.)
I love the psychedelic phase, but I truly think Alan Parsons was the best thing to happen to Floyd. He really brought their talent into focus and
presented it better than they were able to themselves (compare the pre-cursor to Dark Side, Obscured By Clouds; it had many similar themes and
feelings, but was left quite raw as if a collection of demos.) Parsons took that, polished it up, and gave us Dark Side. He worked on Atom Heart as
well. Atom Heart being my personal favorite, and Dark Side being one of the greatest commercial successes for this, or any band.
They asked Alan Parsons to come back for Wish You Were Here, but he declined to pursue his own 'project.'
And for no reason other than I adore the hell out of this one:
Icy wind of night begone, this is not your domain...

Loved them from the beginning. Piper was out there but cool. It was the time. And the argument between Dark Side of the Moon vs Wish You Were Here,
sorry for the blasphemy but have a cigar and welcome yourself to the machine.
And Ummagumma? You gotta "get in the mood" and listen to Several Species....
That is probably the only Floyd tune I find un-listenable. The whole album is pretty wacky/ brilliant, but damn...just can't handle all those squirrel
sounds nor Roger's unintelligible ranting at the end.

Psychedelic Pink Floyd were truly awful until Dark Side. Early Pink Floyd fitted the context of the time and was only really any good while mellowing
out after a session in the pub. Wish You Were Here was the best album, although I know that's subjective. Then it went into industrial production
with nondescript albums popping out to satiate the bank manager.
The Wall had some pretty good music and some of the later albums were well produced, but sadly repetitive and formulaic, IMHO.
Mention of the Final Cut which is my second best Floyd album, marred only by the dabbling into politics. My sister was at Southampton Docks.
Pink Floyd, ah Pink Floyd. So good, but not really as good as some others who never stayed the course.
