How to stop a Tsunami

The only way to stop one would be to create a second wave and have the 2 collide canceling each other out. I think you would have to set off many nukes precisely placed under water to create waves to break up the big one. Granted it will still cause damage but if two waves can cancel each other out at all the effect could be less than with one single wave hitting land.
Anyone care to kill this idea or elaborate?

my way to "stop" tsunamis...will it work???
rather than starting a new thread , could you add your ideas to this existing one.

Say you have the first wave, which goes out like a ripple in a pond...all directions. If you use a nuke to make a second wave, it too would go out in all directions which would be opposite of the effect you are trying to create.
