As a lot of you will probobly already know Doom amongst other new titles utilize the Denuvo protection system(DRM) which has thus far remained uncrackable. However the group CPY seems to have released a version of the game with included working crack.

Personally i purchased the game when it came out for £22 because im a big Doom fan and could not be bothered waiting around for a cracked version, also the price was right.

My question however is does this spell the end for Denuvo or will the crack be patched like it was for Just Cause III?

Your thoughts please fellow members.

All protection will be circumvented , Denuvo is no different except it takes longer to do.
What ever the industry thow out there the cracker groups see it as a challenge , the kudos comes from beating that challenge.

CD Projekt showed that if you treat gamers fairly they will repay you , the Whitcher 3 launched without protection.

"Results achieved in the recent quarters prove that the release of The Witcher 3 was a quantum leap for us in terms of business activity," CD Projekt VP Piotr Nielubowicz said in a statement. "The first quarter of the current year is the third consecutive period of continuing strong sales of The Witcher, and of record-breaking revenues for the whole Capital Group."

Yeh i know the score, if it was written by Man, then Man can circumvent it, that's just how coding goes.

Just wondering if this spells the end for such an intrusive, sometimes resource hogging form of DRM?

I agree with CD Projekt methods, people will pay for such titles, especially when they cut the mustard like The Witcher 3 did. The Blood and Wine DLC for said title is simply sight to behold and the perfect eye candy on any half decent system.

I think Denuvo has done its job and will continue to do so , DRM is a virus and like viruses Denuvo will evolve , I don't think it will ever be uncrackable but it gives publishers a window to make money until it is , Doom was released 4 month ago.

I don't really see Doom being the best choice to release a crack that circumvents Denuvo given the nature of game. Theirs rather a large multiplayer aspect to consider which obviously will be unavailable to anyone running the CPY cracked version. Fair enough the single player campaign will be playable but theirs rather more to said title than the short 10 hour campaign.

Doom was indeed released 4 months ago but if CPY have indeed circumvented the DRM i don't see many other new titles on the cards which planed to utilize Denuvo being afforded such luxury.

Edit: Apparently the group 3DM claim to have already cracked Denuvo but were waiting a year to see how there non release of cracks would impact game sales. Don't know how credible there claim is all the same.

DRM has never worked and people have always worked out a way to beat it.

I remember in the late 1990's Cuteftp was a popular program for piracy and they spent all their time adding all sorts of anti piracy crap into it, it didn't take much work to find and disable most of the security but they were sneaky and thus you could find yourself getting tripped up but they always could be beaten with enough effort.

Sitting through pages of x86 assembler in a debugger is not fun so hats off to those who still have the effort to do it.

Wasn't Denuvo cracked a while back ? Rise of the tomb raider apparently had a working crack , at least techspot reported that one of the main pirate sites was claiming a hacker group called conspir4cy had beat the drm.

I think "Rise of the Tomb Raider" was cracked around the 10th of last month(August). Another title that i incidentally purchased for the trivial sum of around £25. The cost probobly being down to the fact that it employed Denuvo. The Denuvo in Fifa 16 has also apparently been beaten even before "Rise of the Tomb Raider".

Thing is a significant percentage of people don't like these intrusive measures(DRM) or the demand on system resources it can cause regarding some titles.

Hopefully this spells the end for said protection system until they come up with the next iteration.

Personally i think if they just price PC titles around the £20-£30 mark and keep up the excellent quality, people will be willing to pay. All through lets face it piracy has been and always will be a fact of life.

Sure is a great game, and very reasonably priced from places such as "cdkeys.com" and there like.

I feel for the poor console players all the same who are not afforded such discount for some reason.

I shelled out on a new GFX card for Doom, got me a new GTX1070, sweet as a nut if somewhat on the pricey side(£390).

a reply to: andy06shake. DRM used to really annoy me when I gamed on a pc, some company their name slips my aging memory stopped using any protection in their games and just priced them fairly, they say business is booming. Treat gamers fair and if the game is good most go on to buy it. I now just do xbox since I inherited my sons console when he upgraded, along with all his games.

Its just you preference really, i like PC titles because of there customization options and scalability. Then theres the fact that they are somewhat easier to mod than there console cousins.

Personally i feel that the Xbox 1 just like the PS4 are somewhat under powered and ill equipped to run rather a few of the next generation of titles on the horizon.

I certainly agree that if you treat gamers fair and the game is of good quality most will indeed go on to buy the title, even if they do pirate it beforehand.

Loved the old xbox 360 and its predecessor for that matter. I have a PS4 as well and PS Plus subscription and service pales in comparison to its Microsoft counterpart.

a reply to: andy06shake. I do miss the customization you could do on the pc, also fan made mods. I have an old laptop which about the only thing on it is Truck sim and about 1000 folders of mods,I mostly used a mac so gaming was on an old windows laptop which was sadly lacking in power, but it still runs truck sim a dream. Its the 360 I have, I will have to wait till the next gen comes out then ill get my sons xbox one

Loads of great preowned 360 games to be had for what amounts to sometimes pennys these days. I still play my old 360 sometimes, loved titles such as Red Dead Redemption, Bayonetta, and GTA games on the 360.
