Plants and Animals

I have heard throughout my life that the first organisms evolved in water and then some came out of the water.

I always assumed that this was an animal in its entirety and completely seperate from the plant species.

Was it plants that came out of the water? Think about a world with no ecological life. There is no sustenance for animals. Thus the plant and its photosynthesis solar panel mechanisms was the best design for earth.

Once the earth was filled with plants, competition grew until a singularity happened with whence plants started to leave the ground as movement was the best way to get sunlight.

Is this a possibility? That animals don't exist without plants and therefore must be from plants.

Plants did come first. But naturally it all started in the water.

Think of algae ( plant ). Then think of what evolved from algae : protozoa, bacteria, and other microorganisms that make up plankton ( animals.)

Millions of years later, every animal has evolved from that starting point.

Because it actually needs a mate to reproduce..a female counterpart..it is also the last of it's kind (unless they've found one since this article)
I dunno how this fits with the OP..but when I read this:

Somehow these E. woodii survived the catastrophe that wiped out the dinosaurs, got through five different ice ages, learned to live with bigger, newer trees, conifers, leaf bearers, then a profusion of fruiting and flowering plants, got pushed into smaller, then even smaller spaces until there were merely tens of thousands, then thousands, then hundreds and then, perhaps, just this one.

That about explains my love life.

I'm pretty sure they each evolved separately, from some type of microorganism. But yeah is likely that a plant (or microorganism) came out of water first. The question is whether plants and or animals developed from a microorganism in the water or on land.

Plants evolved from single celled organisms capable of photosynthesis. Animals came from single celled organisms that consumed other organisms for food.

Now a really trippy form of life are fungi. They're everywhere on Earth, most forests wouldn't exist without them and they act as a communication network between plants.

Plants and animals both came out of the water, because that’s where both evolved.

I think plants came first. Or maybe ediacarians were.

So the plants came first in the water, animal micro organisms then came about in the water to eat the plants.

The plants came out of the water and flourished, animal microorganism follows suit now that there's a food source on land.

And based on this, is it safe to assume that the first animals were vegetarian and only later on in evolution did the animal line start to eat eachother?

I think something like an amoeba would have developed early on. There could easily have been a range of microscopic predators before plants arose.
