Mysterious rotating island in swampy land near Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Given the name The Eye, the island is described as a circle of land, surrounded by a thin channel of water. The hole in which the island sits - within the surrounding marshland - is about 120 metres in diameter.

The island is located at Campana and Zarate in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. It can be found using Google Maps at coordinates 34°15’07.8’S 58°49’47.4″W.

www.inquisitr.comI found this interesting. When I first seen it, I thought it was a photoshopped image. My guess of what caused it, is similar to a ice carousel like in the video below What do you think caused this? Aliens?

That second video is pancake ice, which is extremely common at both Poles.

Hey, no sweat.

These formations have to do with water flow influencing a piece of land or ice. Interesting to see nonetheless. "The Mysterious rotating island in swampy land near Buenos Aires, Argentina" is located on a flood plain. With the "spinning ice disc" the video of it may be at least one of two that I know of that happened locally, in this case would be due to the river flow. The spinning ice discs have been reported and shared from different locations.

Could it just be a shadow though? Like a sinkhole and the shadow changes with the sun giving the illusion it's a rotating disc.

There are real photos here so I'm totally wrong about it being a shadow.

I bet money that this is not an "island," per se, but a clump of floating organic matter that is supporting enough life on it to look like it is solid land. This is a pretty common occurrence in swampy areas.

I'm guessing that there is a naturally occurring whirlpool-type flow of water beneath that, just enough to have broken an amount of the floating vegetation away from the rest of it and swirling it around in such a way that it has created a relatively perfect circle.

I don't really think that it's that mysterious, though, as we all know that "islands" are not floating bodies.

Seems like maybe this supports the idea that there is a pretty powerful natural spring in that area, then, and that's causing the swirling instead of a whirlpool flow of the water in that area. Either option seems plausible, and really removes any mystery that may be there. It's pretty damn cool though, either way.

So, why do the co-ordinates 34°15’07.8’S 58°49’47.4″W take me to a place just south of London?
