WHAT was the deal with them marchers at the Inagural parade wearing red?

"Was it a multiple ghost sighting?"

Marchers wearing Red clothes resembling the Red Coats of the American Revolution. Wasn't this nation going up against those red coat and now 200 plus years later these same red coats marched down Pennsylvania ave. escorting Bush...

something fishy is going on, folkzzzz

Was there a symbolic meaning behind it, then how about that idiot over the loud horn sounded like some N.W.O take over if I wouldn't say...

Any pics or links? Were there any ensigna on their outfits? I missed the redcoats, but I'm not a big fan of coronations and missed most of the crowning ceremony. Would love to see what you guys are talking about though...

They are no ghosts, they are real soldiers from the 3rd US Infantry Regiment. Here is their website. Why the red coats? It's simple: during the late XVIII century regimental bands usually wore the "inverted" parent regiment's colours. For example, if an English regiment wore red coats with yellow cuffs and collars, their regimental band would wear yellow tunics with red cuffs and collars. In this particular case, the customary Continental Army uniform was dark blue coats with red cuffs and collars, so the regimental bands would wear red coats with dark blue cuffs and collars (there were some exceptions to this, but this not the place to talk about them). I would ask a moderator to lock this thread and move to appropriate forum... Thanks!

Not necessarily the communist colour, however in the spartan athenian struggle, the spartans were red. THe romans were also red. The brits were also red. The soviets were also red. There is no red army right now. It would be interesting to say the least if one unit of the US army had red dress uniforms.

The Brits were wearing red coats long before there was such a thing as a communist. Yeah it was kind of a symbol of dictatorship here but by the British Throne not communists.

Look up China, Russia and Cuba and tell me what you come up with.

Sorry, wasn't saying its not a colour used by the communists. Was saying its not a colour specific to communist movements. It is 'Red China' and the 'Red Scare' after all no? And non communist leftists are 'Pinkos', right?


Also, Red flags used to be put up in a city that was under martial law in europe, usually this was because of mass riots and anarchy. Thus the Red Flag was taken by the communists as their flag.

I lived in it, i know.

Of course red is the color used by communists but that doesn't mean the color red didn't exist before communists! Sheesh... The British soldiers occupying America during the Revolutionary war wore red uniforms, that's what this thread is discussing!!! :shk:
