You can see why they would dump him at sea? No offense please don't take offense to this but I have to know why you even believe they would do that. Anytime I hear they dumped him in the sea I have this gut reaction to laugh because it is so unbelievable. In regards to the Op. I agree with Intrptr... are they are hiding anything? Seems to me they would definitely want to hold on to a top leader.

As I understand it, burying him at sea does not in turn create a specific point on land where people can pilgrimage to and venerate him at his "grave". It takes that potential completely out of the picture. Where do his followers mourn and gather now??? Not in the middle of the sea....no grave no single point of worship.

So, comparatively speaking, we should not put rabid dogs down?

I see the protection of life as paramount to allowing and/or defending those who take lives. Hardly bringing one "down" to their level.

There are MANY ways of looking at death and punishment for those who commit crimes of murder. Exactly what would you deem as punishment for those who murder? A nice cell, 3 squares a day, clothes on their backs, entertainment, all manner of time in order to spread the poison of certain ideologies to those like minded individuals who are basically "captive audiences", and ripe for indoctrination. Yeah, don't think so.

A line HAS to be drawn some at some time...one that has consequences that are upheld. Please don't ask "who draws the line and defines it's parameters"? I'd say those who have the best interests of the population at heart. Anyone with a brain and intelligence enough to recognize, know and apply the basic fundamental GOODNESS inherent to humans can contribute to morality and codes of Justice. Really, it's not that difficult to envision.

So yes...Justice most certainly needs to be meted out in the form of death when warranted. And this case fit the scenario for being, without a doubt, WARRANTED.

Burying at sea is supposed to be reserved for combatants in time of war when returning to land isn't possible.

Doing that to a man who was killed on land, in bed with his wife in the middle of the night... besides being cowardly, how do we know the truth of it?

My gubmnent lied about the reasons they went into Afghanistan in the first place, about 911, about a great_many_things...

but I believe them now when they tell me it was UBL, UBL, UBL. (rolls eyes)

Capitation strikes simply do not work against a group like the Islamic State. Terrorist groups are not Nazi Germany or Saddam's Iraq where the entire power structure collapses when the top dogs are gone.

The only way to defeat these groups is through attrition. Deplete their manpower until there is nothing left. Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadis death will not see an end to the Islamic State and it's quest for a global Caliphate.

Gloating over loss of life in any context is distasteful and threatens to lower you to the same level as those you seek to bring Justice to.

Are you serious? In nature, death sustains life and this is a crude, but prime example. I would easily split a hair to justify the amount of life gained by this man's death. He literally helped manufacture the air of extremism around the world, instilling fear into the minds of what were once tolerant and carefree individuals.

A man who manipulated adults into committing suicide, leaving their families behind. Someone who corrupted the minds of young children, convincing them to hate before they can understand why. When people of this nature are eliminated, it has the potential to demotivate and hopefully deactivate those from committing future acts of violence.

If you can't celebrate a meaningful death, then at least celebrate all the potential lives saved. If you could prove to me that this man did all of these things against his will, I would instead wish that he had another chance to start over.

One leader at a time ain't gonna work.

Some other jihadist just gets promoted in their place.

100% propaganda.

On Osama , I can see why they'd dump him at sea , he was a focal point alive or dead , best not to create a pilgrimage point

Thanks I got the official reason. Martyrs never die. Their memories fuel the fight. Among his cohorts he was deeply respected. He helped them defeat the Soviets, stood up to the Infidels (US).

About burying at sea, they could have put him anywhere in tiny little bits, no-one would be the smarter.

As is, it smacks of cover up.

To cut of the heads one only has to look toward the previous US Secretary of State and Saudi Arabia.

Nice. Thanks for the reminder who's really in charge of the chaos.
