I was fired from my job about a month ago. I did good work and was on time. Just a crappy day between the owner of the company and myself.
I'm in the automotive field and I am pretty good at all aspects of the work I do. I'm very confident and sure of myself when it comes to fixing just about anything auto related.
But I have a severe anxiety problem. This wasn't always the case. I can tell you the exact moment it happened though and I haven't been right since. But the cause is just that. Not a solution. I missed a job this morning because I was shaking so bad I had a hard time just driving. This is a really big deal and I have know idea how to control it.
I'm not a lazy, lay around type of person. This problem has just become such a big deal I can't see myself getting it under control. Maybe I'm chemically imbalanced and my brain isn't working correctly. I can't get to a doctor because I have no insurance or way of paying because I've been out of work
I'm scared to death. No idea how I can turn this around.
Im not looking for a pity party. I'm looking for advice. This problem is extremely embarrassing. I feel like I'm drowning with no air in sight.

Have you ever tried to search if in your region there maybe is a psychiatrist who does take in emergencies for free?
Or try and Google free help sites and phone numbers?
Because without medicine you won't get far. Some food helps a bit, no more meat, gluten and see if you find asparagus but that's all just a drop on a hot stone.

Just try and call a doctor in your area if you explain how bad it is, maybe he sees you after his hours. They swore an oath to help for f*sake.

Go somewhere no one knows you, and act like a fool. Go up to people you do not know, get attention, eventually you will realize we are all just people struggling through life, and that everyone is anxious. There is nothing to fear, and the worst that can happen is they reject you and your back to where you started. But without putting yourself out there you will forever remain where you started.

Can you apply for Medicaid? Before I had any kind of insurance I still went to the behavioral health center that I do now, Portage Path Behavioral Health, and I didn't pay. There has to be places like that where you live where you don't pay anything or very little to go to. They can help you apply for Medicaid, too. Once you have Medicaid you can go to a lot of different places including dental, vision, and regular health places. You could call around or google low income mental health centers too maybe.

He was in the right for firing you for not doing your job. So your next step is to find a new job, which shouldn't be hard if you are as good as you say. Once (or even during hiring process) you get the job, have a sit-down with your new boss and lay out your problems on the table. He will either accept you or tell you that you are not worth the trouble. And you may want to look into the ADA and see how that affects your positions as well, although it does not not cover you if you do not disclose your disability.

I feel like this advice is really helping me today. I'm not actually going to do it, but it's a good mindset.

I have not much experience with anxiety attacks but from other people experiences I can recommend you to look up the Buteyko breathing method.
Of course you can try to balance whatever chemical problem is causing this with medicine or natural products but I have a feeling that breathing exercises are more immediate, not expensive and can help right at the moment of such attack.
If you want to look for more options maybe you can find something useful here:

I've found shallow breathing to pretty much make my anxiety and panic attacks nonexistent pretty much overnight. I used to take deep breaths thinking it would help, but I found them to actually make things worse. Now I take slow, shallow breaths and can finally do things like drink coffee again without any real anxiety. I haven't tried all the exercises, but more information on this theory can be found by looking up the Buteyko breathing method.

Good luck and don't give up, you can beat this!

Do you have any other physical symptoms? Anxiety can be a symptom of Lyme disease.
Just throwing it out there as a possibility,
if it's all of a sudden & not like you.

Seems to me that you are walking away from the part you should be putting your focus on. Whether you care to elaborate or try to work this out alone, you might want to spend more time contemplating that moment. Such a visceral reaction usually doesn't happen without a trigger.

If it is trauma or stress related try EFT tapping, google it, this works.

Try to control your breathing; in thru the nose, out of the mouth.

Would you care to share what you think might be clues as to when/why
This started happening?

Hi Toolman, sorry to hear you're struggling with anxiety, that's a bad spot to be in.
I've had a couple of spots in my life like that.

The first time, good old fashioned therapy helped a TON. Turns out, I had some pretty irrational expectations of myself, and letting go of those was like being set free from a cage.

The 2nd time my hormones were out of whack, causing crushing migraines with increasing frequency. Trying to keep up my normal pace with migraines made me super anxious. I finally went on meds for a while, which helped me sleep normally again, which slowed the migraines, which made the anxiety slack up a little mre each week until I was more or less normal again.

Don't be embarrased by this!!! We all have rough patches, and asking for help is the absolute right thing.

A friend of mine suffered so bad she couldn't work for months. She did go on Medicaid as Paperdoll suggested, ans it was the bridge she needed to get her the therapy and meds needed to come back to level and come back stronger than ever.

God Bless, and keep us posted on how it goes for you.

This is not the place for free medical opinions...we arent qualified to give you medical advice...though I am certainly qualified as to the course to take so you CAN get help.

Check every hospital, state university, city or county hospital. There ARE free treatment and exams programs. There are many different ones...and by calling the local med center of your choice, tell them you have no insurance and to get you in touch with a program.

They are there. Everywhere. And dont be afraid. Just tell the voice out the phone just the fact you really need to see medical professionals and have no ability to pay...and you neednt say why. Just ask for a hospital social worker.

Good luck and let me know...

Rescue Remedy has helped many people in your situation, also vanilla is the ingredient in benzodiazepines which goes into your receptors and calms you down obviously benzos have a minor side effect of death which kicks in 20 days after you stop taking them,

also do some research on breathing exercises breathe in through your nose for 4 seconds hold breathe for 4 seconds breathe out, do not overdo this as it alkalizes your system, it works by giving your lungs a chance to uptake more nitric oxide which expands your arteries as well as helping to clear your arteries

but the rescue remedy is your best bet but do the research on it.

How the # would you know anything about my job? And if you do happen to know me I would be interested in what job I didn't do.

Breathing exercises don't work in this situation. I had a minor stroke about 8 years ago and haven't been right since. I take no medication and couldn't get any without money in my current situation. I am perfectly fine if left on my own but turn into a nut job when being observed. Weed doesn't help me much. Alcohol does a lot but I am an alcoholic and have to control my intake. No more than once a week. I have a lot to offer a business as an employee. I'm great at what I do and am very loyal. Just getting past that first day is virtually impossible

Relax, I meant no offense. I don't know any more about your job than what you stated here. I thought you were looking for advice, and I gave the best advice for the information provided.

Here is what I was referring too from your post:

Like I said, it does not sound like you should have a hard time finding a new job. When you get said new job, sit down and talk with your new boss about your health concerns.
