"Blind faith in your leaders will get you dead"

Its coming people. More people are waking up to whats happening and its reaching such a breaking point in both war and economics; That even more doubters have begun to see how we are being steered into catastrophic events. Events that lead down a dark path into an authoritarian existence for mankind, or should I say humankind now...

Should be a warning that people take to heart.

Nice plug for Mockingjay, and it's always nice to listen to Donald Sutherland...his voice is right up there with Morgan Freeman. I prefer to read the books, personally...the movies just never seem to measure up. Now, were you planning to include a link to these "dark secrets" you alluded to...or were you just doing a quick movie promotion?

What are you talking about that film came out nov 2015. I am posting a warning to the people that sutherland gave.
The dark secret is that wars are enginered for profits and are not for freedom, democracy or country.

The whole point is TPTB create these wars for profit and send people off to die for their own interests.

Why try and derail?

Preaching to the choir big D.

This overpriced 18 sided planetary Disney dinner feud is about to get even uglier.

Oh look! A bitty wolf.

Hell yeah. I always liked that actor. Turns out I like the actual person too. A rarity from the ilks of Hollyweird.

Derail what exactly?? I'm asking you to produce what your thread title promises. I'm aware the movie came out in 2015. The books came out long before that. That's why I'm puzzled as to why you have a 42 second clip of movie footage with Donald Sutherland speaking a few words about the story behind it.

He is talking about the message behind the books that inspired the movie. That is literally one of the main messages of the entire story. The story itself is a message, particularly for young people, showing what can happen if the world continues along its current path of greed and materialism and disregard for humanity. And while I'll agree that it could be considered somewhat dark, there is nothing secretive about it. That story was designed to make people stop and think.

Instead of making rash accusations, how about putting a little more effort into making yourself more clear? Post content is important for a reason. And not everyone can make sense out of less than a minute of footage taken out of context and a few mumbled phrases from one of the actors.

Some people, such as myself, are hearing impaired and need a little bit more to go on than a barely audible video clip and a few vague sentences to understand what we're supposed to be getting here.

So, once again...what are the "dark secrets" alluded to in your title? Because so far, nothing you've said or shown is a secret to anyone.

Play it again. He said "the United States" point blank.

That's probably why he took the script then...it's a very thought-provoking, intelligent story that is eerily convergent with a very possible future for humanity if things don't drastically change. We're getting to the point already where everything is a form of entertainment...especially violence and suffering, as depicted in the story. It's like reality TV gone horribly awry...which is not far from the current situation.

I'm jealous that you got to chill with him, though. He is one of my favorite actors. He reminds me a lot of my father. He was a free thinker too.

I've played it numerous times, on a powerful speaker. I can't hear all of it and he's impossible to lip-read. But what I am able to make out sounds like he's describing the message behind the story.

It is set in what used to be the US, after a corrupt elitist government led us into war and divided the population, using the starvation and desperation of the outcast society as a form of entertainment...like the games in the Colosseum in ancient times.

I've not watched the movies...like I said, the books are always better. Plus, it's easier than dealing with not being able to hear half of what is going on. But the movies may not include a lot of the back story due to time constraints, so that info may not really be covered in the movie adaptation.

But what he's saying, it's not a secret at all. It's precisely what the story is all about. Maybe they really butchered the story in the adaptation to the point where the message wasn't clear? I don't know. But that story is exactly what he is describing.

Sutherland is emphasizing on stuff we all should know.
Many of the Dark Secrets are covered in Zeitgeist very well, and as convincing as some of these theories are, they have been almost totally ignored by MSM. There is reasoning for and against this as well.
Most of us hear what we want to hear, but world affairs are indeed severely complex and sometimes sinister. The only alternative is to keep an open mind.

It is crappy audio.

Although they show HG clip(s), he's talking about the US. That the kids watching the films should understand that it (the dystopian government) is an allegory for the real world.

Ok, well that's what I thought he was saying. That's the whole point of the story itself. And those books are classified as young adult fiction because the message is for that target audience, but I think adults should read them as well...there are too many people out there who are blinded to what is happening. That is astonishing to me, but it's a reality.

Of course, there are people out there who simply refuse to see what is plainly in front of their face, and any attempt at getting a message through is an exercise in futility. But even though this story has a clear and obvious message, I firmly believe there are similar messages...and even clues...hidden in many books and other media.

When I see something that I think might be evidence of that, it gives me hope that enough people are seeing it too. Because the only way we're going to avoid a scenario like the premise of the story is if we rise up against it before it comes to pass. I think the messages keep coming because it's not yet too late.

Wellllllll........

It, the original I'm talking about anyways, covers many complex issues. So to speak singularly in such a way wouldn't be right.

Well, yeah, the dystopian story is the theme of the series. Haven't read the books, but being a resident expert of Dystopian Films, these days just about any proper dystopian category film will inherently contain multiple inherent allegories to the modern US .gov. It's just the nature of this animal.

Th first two films I found mostly annoying though. Too heavy on all the teen stuff for my age & era. The third contained many same annoyances, but made it all worth it no less.
