Common Sense Gun Control I cant keep a straight face when I say that

yep, yep the amount of powder and the necked-down cartridge style multiplies and the projectile....

but common sense says that stuff doesn't really have weight...guns......I can spot trends....guns....hmmm I don't see them ever outlawed.....common sensewise

The OP was not about the difference in lethality between the 223 and 22LR. It is about the possibility of common sense gun control. The people interviewed would just as likely prohibit or ban an M&P-15-22LR just because it looks bad ass.

It would have made more sense for the comparison to be a mini-14 vs a Ar-15 with the standard .223 load. It is ridiculous that people make knee jerk statements against guns purely on looks and emotional response to those looks.

I like that you can get an AR in .22lr, 5.7, 6.8, 9mm, .223/5.56, 7.62X39, .300, .308, .468 did I miss any???

Although the same lower would not necessarily work across the board. But one lower can usually accommodate a handful of caliber.

I think a Thompson is pretty badass.

Possibly more education about firearms is part of gun control.

I'm one of the biggest supporters of the right to own a firearm that you'll ever meet. But to compare a.22 to a .223 is to compare apricots to almonds.

All right. Just suppose that our right to keep and bear arms is rooted in our right to attempt to overthrow and truly tyrannical government. If we allow "common sense" regulation to remove our right to own anything that might otherwise be a threat to the armed agents of the same tyranny that would be brutally oppressing us, how would we rebel again?

The scenario you have in your head about gun control not making sense because you can kill anyone with a .22 didn't make sense. When it comes to shooting and being shot cops are heavily armed and rarely alone.

I am not a child and a firearm is not a toy. It is pure ignorance to think of a firearm as a toy. It is a tool. A tool you must learn to use in order for it to be used properly. A tool I use to defend my life and liberty. If you can't get behind that then IDK what to offer you.

Right now many types of drug are completely illicit, and yet, somehow, they are easily obtained by those who want them.

How do you know that even if you made all firearms in this country illegal that the same cartels and gangs who now make their living selling those same illicit drugs wouldn't simply add firearms to their list of goods?

If we can't stop them from selling drugs, what makes you think we could stop them from selling guns? And furthermore, what makes you think this would have any impact on the inner city violence which is the real source of all those shootings since they are mostly gang related?

.223/.556 is more lethal than a .22lr ballistically.
