Not Able to Make Replies

I have run into this a few times now.

How come there are some threads (often actively being posted in) that will not allow me to post/reply in?

Also, there are some posts which I cannot star or flag.

the thread may have been closed for staff review, or the user you are trying to star/flag has been banned

Or you don't have enough posts to participate in a certain forum, RATS, posse comitatus.

Some forums, like the Posse Comitatus, require 500 post to be able to reply, you can still reply directly to another post

Or, wince, it could be something way more mundane, such as a loss of internet connection or a slow connection.

I learned the hard way to look for that damned little circle that goes round and round, waiting for a connection.

And I learned the hard way that the more buttons I keep pushing, the more I am guaranteeing that I am the one swimming in circles.
