In pursuit of trying to broaden my musical horizon, I've found celtic metal!! From what I've heard, I'm a fan. Any others that care to share?
AKA Folk Metal
lol yes Xian metal from the 80's/90's i can't listen too long anymore, but they're 'thrashingly good'. There's one song in particular i like, people
often say it's too dark but it's got a rythm all it's own.
eta: released upon the earth
I'll have to have to take a listen to the Celtic Metal it sounds good.

Related-Ritchie Blackmore "Smoke on the Water"/Deep Purple legendary guitarist and member of Rainbow as well...has gone Celtic. BLACKMORE'S NIGHT is
his acoustic Celtic group.
He's gone non-traditional Celtic and Folk-acoustic with a group of acoustic musicians playing traditional Celtic/Folk, and recently refused a Deep
Purple Reunion Tour(current tour status unknown).
Kinda reverse of your thread direction...but pertinent to those that follow both Celtic and Heavy Metal music...Deep Purple/Rainbow/Ritchie
Blackmore

Awesome works everyone.......... I particularly like Haiduk, (thank you Haiduk!) although I must say I don't really hear the 'Celtic' within their
music. Of those that I do, Alestorm, Skyclad (thank you Raven_Heart!), ELUVEITIE (thank you Phantom Traveller!), Tridanna (thank you Awareness 10!)
Svartsot (thank you Caligstro!), and Skiltron (thank you Jin!) resonate with me the most.
Why all the thanks? Well......... I've never heard of any of these bands until just this moment. Thanks to you alll!! I play a wee bit of Celtic
metal myself, most notably a vulgar rendition of Sí Bheag, Sí Mhór, by Turlough Carolan. Maybe one day I'll shock you all with a youtube of me
scaring the wild chickens into the bush with it. I know, I know, video or it didn't happen.
I wonder if any of the bands displayed in this thread ever tipped their hat to the works of Big Country.... for they were the true pioneers.
