The Senate Panel has approved Rice's nomination for Secretary of State 16-2. Democrats Barbara Boxer and John Kerry were the only two opposed. If the Senate Confirms, Rice will be the first African-american woman to serve as Secretary of State.

After two days and 11 hours of often contentious hearings, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved Rice's nomination for the Cabinet position by a 16-2 vote Wednesday morning.

Personally, I feel that Rice has no business being the National Security Advisor, let alone the Secretary of State. I respect Colon Powell's choice to resign, but honestly, I don't feel that Dr. Rice will be able to fill the gap. But overall, I must say that I'm not happy with Bush's nomination.
