He's talking about a culture, not a race. Many people of all ethnicities have come to Western civ countries, adopted the hallmarks of Western civ culture and gone on to great achievements.

The only other cultural systems that rival it are the Chinese and Jewish ones when it comes to instilling values and ethics that push the people to new and greater heights of achievement.

Other cultures have stumbled on great discoveries and had golden age periods, but they have not sustained their track records for as long as the three systems mentioned.

Why is it that 99% of time, other white people are offended by something a white man had said about other culture or race? I'll never understand it.

I listened to his speech, and it wasn't racist at all. He was just stating his opinion, but I guess hillary's supporters got offended by it.

every place where the footprint of christianity settled in the world!! okay, but does that leave any portion of the world out of the picture? western culture left very few areas of the world untouched by it's influence. assimilating, converting, conquering, and basically destroying or hiding anything that defied their worldview. even in the United States, there are artifacts that we are just now hearing about that indicate that the continent was visited by the egyptians, the pheonecians, the vikings and others long before columbus ever "discovered" it. and many of the advances that have been made have been made with the christian churches originally opposing them.

entire cultures have been wiped out so completely we still don't understand some of the archeological finds we have. it's so easy to declare the supremacy of the western culture after you've assimilating so many cultures unto yourself and forced them to conform to your worldview. yes, much of what we are now can be attributed to the western culture, but we will never know the full extend of what we have lost, what those other cultures might have contributed.

we invented the computer, but who is making the biggest advances in robotics? where are our computer chips and electronics being produced now? where is the majority of our clothing being produced? just what are we number one in now outside of war and bogus financial securities, derivatives, and debt? the top dogs never have to stand on the rooftops and proclaim their superiority, everyone already knows is and respects the fact. only former top dogs have to proclaim it once they have lost that respect.

but, go ahead and keep living in the past if you wish, ignore the growing problems of the present. hopefully there will be enough people not following your lead to do the work necessary to transform the world into something better than anything we had before!

So let me get this straight.

People on a MSNBC panel are claiming that there is a problem with the GOP convention because it consists only of angry white people. The Rep. King defends white people and western civilization, and that makes him a racists?

Why isn't the man claiming this is a problem with angry white people being claimed to be a racist? Lets be honest, this man and others are implying there is something wrong or racists about the idea of a group (the convention) consisting mainly of old white people, and people including many on ats here think this is perfectly acceptable. But if someone dare to defend white people, they are a huge racist.

What if the shoe was on the other foot, and a Fox news panelists had said "The dem convention is just gonna be a bunch of angry black people shouting at anyone who disagrees with them." People would be outraged and call this racism! But what if then a black person said, "Now wait a minute, black people are amazing and have contributed more than almost any group to the value of the world". Would that person be a racists? Of course not, you same people shouting how racists King is would be shouting how racists the fox panelists is.

You people ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

There are no living people in America who where slaves and there are no living people in America who owned slaves. How about we stop blaming the living white people for the deeds of the past and move on. The time for whites to "atone" for slavery was just after the slave revolt that made blacks free....what's that, northern white people fought to free the slaves? Atonement accomplished. Let's move forward.

I saw that too. Finally the Republican Party is coming out as the party of racism. It's about time they admit it.

The three systems....Chinese, Jewish and Western, huh? How do you define western? Where do the Egyptians fit? The Greek? Where do Plato and Pythagoras fit in? The Persians? All of India and it's massive and enduring culture?

What constitutes "western"? Is the crawl of industrialism and the sprawling metropolises? Are you measuring "western" success from the past 200, 2000, or 6000 years?

What has Jewish culture done that's so outstanding, that they represent 1/3 of the globe's most superior and ethical cultures in your mind?

Can you point out specifically what was racist? HE said western culture. the interviwer tried to get him to say White people, Knowing this would trigger people to assume the person interviwed was being racist. Its a LEADING TACTIC.

The roots of Western civ go all the way back to Greece. Obviously, you have no idea what constitutes western civilization.

Plato is one the founders of Western philosophy.

Western civ ideals have freed people to go and do and achieve more than most other cultures.

Jewish culture is one of astounding resilience and the ability to succeed no matter where they are. One of the reasons Jews were so hated in the Middle Ages is because, even confined to second class status like they were, they still managed to amass wealth. Their culture is one of frugality and economy and hard work and prize academic success. How many of the world's great scientists have been Jewish just to start?

When I talk about what makes a culture great, I look at what enables a culture to have people who are healthy, surviving and thriving and making great contributions to the world as a whole. Asian cultures like the Chinese have done it, Western Civilization has done it, the Jews have done it. I may be missing one or two, but others have risen and fallen back again.

We are watching Western Civ undercut itself as we speak.

BS. They were created and first implemented by the west. Human rights and the abolition of slavery are not of substance? These are some of the biggest advances in human history.

The last vestiges of white supremacy are lodged in the brains of western masochists. Looking through their lens of race, all they see are privileged white people and underprivileged non-white people, which is no different than seeing superior white people and inferior non-white people. You want to include Greece as being a western culture, while ignoring Egypt and Persia???

Plato and Pythagaras, by the way, drew their scholarship from Egyptian knowledge. The Torah came about by edict from Ptolemy, out of Egypt. Outside of Jerusalem, the highest ancient population concentration of Jews were in the ghettos of Alexandria, Egypt.

Don't even get me started on Jewish rules of money lending to gentiles, global banking, and superior ethics.

The things by which you measure superiority are severely sketchy in my view.
