Enough about white people.. no one cares, everybody has heard about the slavery of whites. Let's talk about the slavery of the rest of the World. Let's talk about how white people were the ones that actually ended slavery and then pushed for it to be ended elsewhere, how about that? Pretty great don't you think? You should thank white people.

Or maybe we should talk about how Muslims killed 400 million Hindus because we have already heard about the atrocities white people committed hundreds of years ago a million times by leftists already, most people have never ever heard of that. Maybe we should talk about how the Muslim slave trade survived right into the 70's, or the pseudo-slavery of some modern Muslim states like Saudi Arabia.

No.. you don't want to hear that because the only narrative that is to be disseminated is the narrative of evil white people and their endless history of atrocities.

So do you suppose that if you were living in that day and age you would have been one of the handful of people that had a contrary view on the subject? I really doubt that, the numbers speak against you. And even if you had been such a noble character, it is all but certain that the vast majority of people wouldn't have been. Change their time of birth and transport them to the 19th or 18th century and their whole character would grow up to be completely different and completely at odds with who they are at this time.

Also, the view that other peoples were barbaric or inferior were the norm in many civilisations, this is not a hallmark that is in any way unique to white people. Both Indians and Chinese have also had this view. Is it any surprise then that white people expressed scorn and derision when discovering tribes that were living in mud huts while they themselves were starting to conquer the World with science? I would argue that this attitude would've come quite naturally for any people that made such great strides in comparison with their darker brethren.

Voltaire was utterly racist by modern standards too. I'm sure he must have been a great fool and an evil evil man. Let's condemn them all! All of our ancestors.. but let's be honest and not limit ourselves to only white people.

I'm pretty tired of this vacuous and vapid leftist pop culture view of history. In truth it is not very far from revisionism, everything coming out of their empty little heads is coloured by their shallow anti-white ideology.

Hardly little known. Apart from being the pioneer of the abolition of slavery in the West (not just in England), thereby freeing many suffering men, women and children and also radically altering the world economy as a result, Wilberforce was also massively influential in the Victorian religious revival and the great surge of Anglican/Methodist missionary activity that began about 1800 and continued throughout the Victorian era.

William Wilberforce helped make the world we live in today. Though he was by no means an unflawed human being and his legacy contains its dark side as all men’s does, his name will live in fame and glory for ever among men and women who are aware of humanity’s heritage.

So the UK abolished Slavery? And went right on being a colonial power like Spain and France, among others.

Nice trimmings.

Just how long did it take for your country to abolish slavery? just a thought.

I wonder how many people know black tribal chiefs sold their follows for salt to arab traders, who marched them to the coast, and sold the slaves to ship owners for gold? The tribal chiefs even picked the ones to be sold, you will have to search long and hard for conformation, but the knowledge is about.

It seems obvious now, to oppose slavery as abhorrent and inhumane.
Back then though, it was an accepted part of life and an incredibly lucrative trade.
In today's money, one trip could make upwards of a couple of million.
It would have taken a rare mind to see the wrongness of it all and the moral necessity of ending the practice.
When seen in context, Wilberforce's stance becomes even more impressive.

Correct and that was the point that most in Parliament initially took, the Tory party in particular while there opposition the Liberal party (the wig's) were the reformists of there day.

It took a lot longer for unofficial slave practice to stop such as the Work Houses were they crammed the poor and the destitute and were if they did not work or could not work they did not eat, the Work Houses were of course as in all Tory idea's then and now private enterprise's and being privately owned these slave sweat shop's existed right up until the 1900's though they had been heavily reformed by that time, in fact they still continued up unto the 1930's and after the act of parliament to abolish them was passed many of them continued under the control of local authority's but were renamed as public assistance institution's (Note the Big Society of David Cameron).

For those with a little more money than the Poor the alternative was the Debtors Prison, of course they had to pay for there own imprisonment?.

We have a lovely country have'nt we.

To think that the Tory's dream of reinstating work houses show's the lack of empathy and humanity in there soul's and illustrates elegantly the fact that even in the west Slavery is most definitely not yet dead.

Yeah a great man. Like Churchill, the Brits are happy to nostalgically cup his balls and ignore any evidence that paints him in a less than complementary light.

For 18th century that was pretty good!

You need to take it in context of the time.

Good post.
If anyone is interested enough, the author, Jack London lived for a while among the poor of London and wrote a book about it all. People of the Abyss.
Hell of a read that gives a glimpse into the true reality of being poor in the world's richest city at that time.

Slaves in the British Empire were mainly used to work plantations. When slavery was abolished it caused the collapse of the West Indian sugar and coffee enterprises. The substitute used -- first on the sugar plantations of Mauritius, then on the coffee plantations of Ceylon -- was Indian indentured labour. The difference between indenture and slavery, in practice, was largely technical; the effect on the victims was much the same.

Indentured labour was used on tea plantations in India and Ceylon well into the twentieth century. The plantation community in Sri Lanka (as Ceylon is now known) suffers to this day from the legacy of this appalling practice.

Shoot, we never stop trying to conquer the world.

Slavery is alive and well, no thanks to all the colonial empires. But over here we label them different; 'migrant workers', for instance.

Excellent point, it may be argued that abject poverty remain's a form of indenture for many even in the former empire such as India were there is a vast disparity between the wealthy and the poor today.

Tea plantation's and Cocoa plantation's around the world not just India spring to mind and of course the Palm oil plantations also have there problem's.

Didnt know that. Thanks
Its interesting he was British, Europe and other countries seem to welcome the indigenous people as their history. Blacks ruled Europe first, in the first. Mary Queen of Europe (jesus mother) chapel is in Germany. The German connection with the Druids, tell me Hilter knew the real jews where black. Also Druids where pagan, who started Christianity.

They didnt pay Africans anything. Africa had already been invaded because of its riches. They stole history, knowledge, people, gold, diamonds, sex slave. Do you really believe they paid slaves for slaves. Also slavery was very popular and based on Class System. EGYPTIANS had black and white servant's. Europeans/Church change it.

Trade had been going on in the First nations which was black/brown indigenous people aka the Dark Ages. Money was not needed, its stole has no value. They traded cocain(found in mummies) for corn. These people where naked, hut living, trible people. The only way you where to become king, royal was to he born with it. Europeans felt like african americans today, both suck in a system that was not made for them. Only barbarians do what they did.

Even if they did sell them to white, you bought people. In America black where not consider humans til the 60's. If i sell a little boy to a catholic priest, he dont have to molest them...(sorry no offense but) Savages with Bible.

By the way Columbus like the Natives men better, the copper people/brown. He watched them play soccer naked.Slave traded them to Europe along with the sport. They say blacks people are lazy dont want work and criminals.European stole everything. Who do you see with gold cup, ring, jewelry, Gold and Diamonds, roman catholic church. Do they look human to u.

The Americas was Negroid first, thats why the Olmecs heads, pyramids, language, teachings where the same. America hides that. Why you ask.

Black indigenous people of Brazil, Haiti, Bahamas native Americans where black dark skin. They dont talk about the Seminole, Creek, Louisiana, Florida, and California was black. Why pay for the cow when you can get the milk for free . These people where labled Negro and then African American. They walked the trail of tears to the underground railroad. Harriet T, was a black native. How else did she know the land if she was African.

What you you see now in American Indian , Chinese/Asia, Muslim/ Arab is the poof that they are "the seeds of Satan". They raped, hung, killed, torture brutalized the world so they fit the name satan.

"They came with a bible, we own they land. They thought us how to pray with our eyes closed. When we looked up they hand the land and we had the bible"

Oh the european's also had white slaves, serf's in england were OWNED by the nobility whom were the Norman's, Slav's in central and eastern europe were so named and from there title we get the name SLAVE, indeed slavic people's, slave people's.
The Roma were hamstrung in Romania so that they could not run away and owned by who ever's land they were found upon in the early middle ages'.
Million's of European's were actually taken by the Barbary slavers of north africa, not thousands, millions and many of them died worked to death by there arabic masters.

Slavery is a scourge and is fully anti christian though it took a lot of persuading to compel those whom had gotten rich of the blood and tears of these captives to relent in Europe but in fact it was not European's but Arabs and sadly Islamic practicing AFRICAN tribe's that were actually the most to blame for the enslavement of african's (and are still today).

BUT were ever there is someone that can make money or gain power by oppressing or enslaving other human being's it will not go away, that is why slavery is still prevalent in the world today in all races and all part's of the world even the supposedly enlightened part's, indeed it is endemic to right wing politic's (the further right the closer to slave master society you get).
