However, researchers do not know if and when the fault will give way. “Whether this region actually will slip in one single earthquake, nobody can say yes or no,” says Vineet Gahalaut, a geologist at India’s National Geophysical Research Institute and an expert on the region’s seismicity who wasn’t involved with the study. “We don’t have enough data to prove or disprove this.”

From the Nat Geo article, the researchers aren't at all sure this pressure build-up will result in a single earthquake. Maybe edit the title without the assertion "there is an inevitable earthquake building up"? Just a suggestion so you're thread doesn't get overlooked because of potential 'click-bait'. Thanks for posting

News has been pointing this out for most every major fault line as of late. With that they are all "overdue", it's only a mater of time, etc. Better to be prepped anywhere you are. Hopefully the news will help the area start measures for preparation.

We all live with the possibility of imminent disaster. If we worried about this we would be insurance poor, deranged zombies!

Again, I think this is an interesting post - it most certainly is of significant concern - but nowhere in any of your links (with the exception of the linked article in this post, which doesn't quote the article, but instead paraphrasing "not imminent but invetiable...according to the study published in the journal Nature Geoscience".) does it explicit state it is a certainty (e.g. imminent) to release in one single earthquake. By the looks of it, this thread isn't getting a lot of traction - I am fairly certain the 'doom porn click-bait' angle is part of the reason. A thread's title, a lot of times, is the only thing posters read, so I believed (rightly or wrongly) if you did a little word-smithing with the title you would see more replies/discussion.

Take care.

That's why humans should build in less idiotic manner. Brute example how civilization is built by an architect with a profound lack of planning abilities. If we are to use this method for raising a child, instead of civilizations, we would have in 16 years, a person who wants to drive a car already, but has no idea how to read any letter of the alphabet.
