bridge was shut down for several hours. In my opinion this kind of behavior accomplishes nothing. What do you think?

It accomplished something. It's in the news and you are talking about it. That is the point of peaceful protest/civil disobedience.

At least it brings more attention to what they are saying. What else would you suggest they do?

It's obvious no-one is listening in the US, after all it's only black people they are killing, right?

I expect cops to get worse not better and people will support them for it, thats the most scary thing.

While all for public protest, I do not get why they insist on shutting down public roads. Go to the source! Police stations, courts and places where political meetings are held!

It's the sick mind of these people... bring suffering and potential danger to others so they themselves can be heard.
These are not protesters - they can't properly articulate what they are protesting against. They are just anarchists.

But thats just to rational of thinking!
I guess its because they know that their cry's fall on deaf ears when it comes to governments.
Disrupting the lives of citizens trying to get to work or home, gets the point across.

I'm entirely with you on that point. Their problem is with the government, not the rest of us. We aren't shooting them, the government cops are shooting them. Go talk to the source of the problem.

In any other country when a segment of society, say labor unions for example, or the trash collectors in France, they petition or protest at the government facilities. Shutting down highways is just...........weird and pointless and all it does is undermine any good will they might have in the larger community.

Exactly!!! This is much of the reason why I believe most (if not all) such protests/demonstrations are orchestrated by the "authorities." For what little support they may garner to their cause, they also inspire at least as much outrage.

To the police stations and courts, I would add state capitols and city halls.... Call for vehicles to circle the blocks and tie up traffic and intersections and parking lots so that official business cannot be conducted -- at least not easily or efficiently.

For much the same way, I view all the calls to march on DC the same way. Most people do not have the luxury of traveling across country for a protest. But call for folks to protest locally -- either at the state capitol or their local city hall -- and it will attract many more to the cause, and be much more effective.

Even a one-day national strike -- no work, no travel, no spending -- with promises for a two-day strike the next time, etc., would be far more effective.

Because that would make too much sense.
