Blame the dead guy all you want.
damn right, if he's stupid enough to lean into a car and start punching, without knowing if someone in that car has a gun, cop or not he got what was coming to him.
cops aren't the only ones in new york that carry a gun.
Taking care of your own when it comes to certain matters is just not the way society or the legal system are set up today.

"He has every right and opportunity to provide an affirmative defense in a court of law before a jury of his peers." Well, according to the article, a high ranking officer considers it justifiable, so this may not even happen.

... you keep talking about this person and this case. It's bigger than that.
FFS... there are a lot of police brutality cases to get angry about, this is not one... unless there is a story to it that hasnt been linked here yet.

I honestly have no idea who that is directed to or what you're trying to say. Unfortunately, the snark overwhelmed any real message.
But regarding this:
Taking care of your own when it comes to certain matters is just not the way society or the legal system are set up today.
The current system is not working, in large part because of the misguided notion that color of law can ever replace natural law.
All life is sacred. All lives have value. All lives must be protected and defended to the greatest extent of the law.

My apologies to all -- I just found out my mother was taken to the hospital and I have to abandon the thread for a while. She's celebrating her 85th birthday Saturday and has heart issues...
Please carry on the discussion! I'll be back when I can.
And, again, my apologies

You better have some damn good proof before you go all vigilante on cops or anyone else.
And cops need to have some damn good proof AFTER they go all Judge Dredd on a civilian or anyone else.
Vigilantes, on the other hand, don't want or need proof. When the rules don't work, they don't play by the rules.

Just one question.
Do we have at least 2 sides to this story?
What fun would that be... Just go Ferguson on he said she said.....

I'm beginning to think LEO should be given more power back, instead of less.
I am no pacifist. I want Law and Order.
