Hard to say really. From where I'm standing, it looks like Capitalism has lead us directly to a concentration of power in a tiny elite (money = god = control).

Maybe but what about when you use an item that was transported via those roads. Maybe you don't drive on those roads (or at all), but have those roads benefited your life in any way? Bought literally anything from a store? Communicated via the internet or phone? All only possible due to the convenient transportation provided by public roads.

If not, chances are you live a life that is secluded enough (from society) that you could likely not pay taxes and no one would notice. Enjoy.

What do roads and taxes have to do with what you quoted?

I simply pointed out that the system doesn't have maximum utility, and is therefore, flawed. I make no special claims as to what the solution is. The only thing I know for sure is that every talking ape on the planet who ever lived thought they were living in a period of stability until it all went pear-shaped.

We are no different.

So - why is desalination not more on the front burner? Do you know? I've been wondering that.

Yes, Las Vegas and Southern California and Phoenix will have to learn to landscape with less use of water -
have you ever read "Dune"?
I do know that some of those cities recycle waste water - which is awesome, too

But desalination is actually a thing, and I don't know: what's the hold up? I mean, we've known (mankind, that is) how to do it for a long long time....
