Britain has voted to leave the European Union, with the Leave campaign securing around 51.8 per cent of the vote.

David Cameron, who will address the nation shortly, is now facing calls to resign as Prime Minister.

While England voted overwhelmingly for Brexit, Scotland and Northern Ireland backed Remain. Statements are expected to be made by Sinn Fein and the SNP later today calling for a breakaway from the Union. London backed Remain but the turnout was lower than expected because of bad weather.

The headline from the Telegraph story says David Cameron "to resign" but the story makes no mention of it. Can anyone confirm it?

Watching his live speech now, no mention of resigning... yet.

He has support urging him to stay from his party.

His promise to resign has only just been made on television.
The Daily Telegraph must have been forewarned.

Ooooooo, Nice one.

All we need now is to split away from the sinking Titanic, float west into the Atlantic and become the second Atlantis before the derivatives nuke goes off in Germany.

Tricky times ahead.

I can imagine a call for an early election and strong calls for change in the union and who knows, Gibralter overwhelmingly voted for the EU, they may have a vote for independance.

All in all exciting times and a grand opportunity for all British people to be more involved with politics instead of having talking heads as representitives. Very exciting times.

RBS shares off 35%, biggest ever drop in the Pound, FTSE down almost 9% already, Scotland and NI calling to cleave the UK apart to be part of the EU either as part of a united Ireland or an independent Scotland.

What is the good news about this again?
