Italy’s 5 Star Movement Calls for Euro Referendum

“The euro as it exists today doesn’t work and we need to consider other alternatives such as a euro 2 or alternative currencies,” Luigi Di Maio, a party leader in the lower house of parliament, said Tuesday night on a television talk show.

In addition to winning the mayoral race in Rome, the Italian capital and the country’s largest city, the 5 Star Movement won in 18 of 19 other runoff races where it had a candidate that made it through the first round of voting. Until now the upstart political party formed seven years ago has won municipal elections only in relatively small cities and towns.

My View
Several few past years the majority of Rome Mayors whatever right or left both have being Pro EU none of these mayors have done anything to the Romans.

The EU has not created any jobs for Italy nor has the trade worked for Italians. Italians are being paid to at least 900 Euros per month as their salary.

Depends on the job but you do get less. Here it is.... Italy is Next. Whatever or not UK remains Italy wants out. After years of suffering. Its Italians want out but the politicians do not.

Wow, this and Brexit, is it the start of the end for the EU as we know it?
Being half-Italian I'm happy that there are political changes in the country.
Although I admire Beppe Grillo for what he has achieved with his party, I think power went to his head a bit.

So from what I understand, this is a call to just get out of the single currency. But surely EU would penalise Italy in other ways if that happens. Either way I don't think we'll see a stable Europe and or Italy anytime soon.

edit: funny, just after this I came across an article from today that says Grillo now thinks UK should remain in the EU, after all the talks of he seeing eye to eye Nigel Farage at the euro parliament. hmmm. Politicians....

Beppe Grillo is a comedian so take his talks that UK should remain in the EU as grain of salt and i know him. He used to be funny. This line should warnings to those in UK

Although Italian referendums can’t change international treaties—a victory for those voting to leave the euro wouldn’t have any legal standing—it would put pressure on the government to act. Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and his Democratic Party have never called into question Italy’s participation in the European single currency.

See? Once your in your a slave.

You would do better by looking at more than 1 source for your claims, Italy or more precisely the 5 star movement wants a 2 tier Euro currency, but remaining in the Euro Union. A far cry from Britains vote as to whether to stay in or out...

Example of Pro EU news media is attacking the 5 star movement.
The risky allure of Italy’s Five Star Movement

The populist party is not a credible contender to govern the country

According to the Pro EU news the populist party is not a credible contender to govern the country because they are agaisnt the EU and its dollar which has not helped Italy.

These victories are a blow to Matteo Renzi, Italy’s centre-left leader, at a difficult moment in his premiership. He needs to find fresh momentum after these defeats if he is to consolidate his power and press ahead with the economic reforms that are necessary.

Matteo Renzi was never elected by Italians.

Well now that the Brits have decided (if a 52/48 outcome can be called that), this idea might be given a boost.
Whatever happens, the dream is gone.

I wonder how come that Beppe Grillo is attempting everything possible to discredit himself and the 5Star Movement right ahead of probable elections?

Are they running for office, or are they covering Renzi's flank? Gatekeepers? I DON'T think so!!!

In fact according to officials, it appears they have been misguided during the choice of a new EU parliamentary group and were asked to consider ALDE as a possible coalition! Who did that? who suggested him that?
Considering that in recent times norther european palaces of power (e.g. Denmark) have been infested by talkative ghosts, the presence of which I can safely attribute to the Italian intelligence services.
Somebody from the north of Europe may have answered in Grillo's house using the same "ghost" tricks ...

Time to for M5S to face Padoan's plan fro the destruction of every italian company with 30 billion tax increase. Otherwise, there will be nothing for them to govern and the only thing they will be left with is conditionalities from the ECB and EFSM. This might actually be the plan of the current govt.
That would tie the M5S to extreme austerity and zero sovereignty over the country. I expect Grillo and Co. to put up a wall against these measures that would only help the criminal ruling class of Europe to maintain their trans-national nature. Basically the current ruling elite are happy to rule over total misery, rather than not rule!

The only reason Italian politicians are worried about the 5-star movement in Italy and are doing anything to prevent an upcoming formation of a government led by Grillo is that, afterwards Grillo could gain access to Intelligence records.
More specifically to what exactly did the Italian and EU criminal intelligence community against Grillo since the 70s and against many other members of the 5-star movement. These records would prove the constant usage by the Italian intelligence since 1970 of biological, neuro-psychological, chemical, bacteriological and physiological weapons against the unwitting Italian population and up to nowadays for experimental and "operational" reasons under the guise of "Counter Intelligence active measures".
