Dozens of U.S. Diplomats, in Memo, Urge Strikes, Regime Change Against Syria’s Assad

The memo acknowledged that military action would have risks, not the least further tensions with Russia, which has intervened in the war on Mr. Assad’s behalf and helped negotiate a cease-fire. Those tensions increased on Thursday when, according to a senior Pentagon official, Russia conducted airstrikes in southern Syria against American-backed forces fighting the Islamic State.

"Failure to stem Assad's flagrant abuses will only bolster the ideological appeal of groups such as (IS), even as they endure tactical setbacks on the battlefield," the Journal quoted it as saying.

These Dozens of U.S. Diplomats, in Memo are very naive and stupid if they actually believe that ISIS is just going to go magical vanish if they kill and bomb Assad for Saudi Arabia.


The West has being bombing the middle east for 20 years. This regime change is not going to stop the migrants from coming into Europe nor stop ISIS and groups such as (IS).

Syria was actually a reasonably safe place to live until everyone else got involved.

Let Syria sort Syria's problems and only offer assistance in ridding them of the curse of ISIS, which everyone else helped create.

Exactly... a lot of people don't realise this.

They also don't realise that the sunni muslims that the US are training and handing weapons too (previously including IS) are further away from the democratic ideals that all the western leaders are using as leverage to continue to fight the war over there... they all say... "we have to give the Syrian people freedom of choice" when in fact the very rebels the west supports are the type of muslims that would exactly NOT enjoy democracy.

Assads shiite muslims are closer to democracy than the opposition is... I believe the Assad family itself even is more of a panreligious group of people rather than devout extreme muslims.

Then you might ask.... why all the fuzz?

Several reasons...

- Just like Iraq, Syria was beginning to lean more and more towards Russia. This is how Saddam went from being friends with the US to becoming an enemy.
- Assads shiites are in fact a minority in Syria, hence their need for authoritarian rule. If you go into the history books, you'll find out that Assad and his likes had been trampled down for decades by those who dilike shiites. Their rise to power was just well timed.
- Before the rise of IS and Al-Qaeda both thanks to the west and our anti-russian proxy war, Syria was a relatively safe country to live in. Just like in Iran, you wouldn't get killed for being a minority religion.... today.... not so much.

The west might be battling IS now, but if we hadn't meddled in the first place, and I mean even down to the very lowest level of instigating opposition with funding etc., Syria might be a much better place today.


More bombing will not solve anything, it will just create more of the same (for us to bomb again?)

With Iran and Russia which has a base in Syria i dont think they are able to pull it off even with Hillary in Charge.

Probably written by paid or pressured writers after the US was shown up by Russia by way of how they all but cleaned out ISI out of Syria in a matter of weeks.

The US is not going to be made to look incompetent idiots lying down.

They'll find a way getting the civil war in Syria going again so they can get back in the and this time they keep the Russians out of it, they wont get caught twice.

Notice no beheading's or will and wooly threats since they got run out of Syria. Haven't heard much from them at all have we.

Not the way to go..Even though Assad was the instigator of all these problems 5 years ago
things cannot now be escalated. Russia appeared on its white horse to support the Assad regime as a way for progress and anyone not with the regime is classed as a terrorist.. That is why groups are now turning to support the regime because if not they are doomed.. No happy justice here .

Really now? Assad was protecting his country from those who started the Arab Spring. An Spring which was aimed agaisnt Shia or those who didn't follow America demands.

The Arab Spring was manufactured. And the same news outlet was shoving the Arab Spring how great it was. This is the same BBC that lied about Syria.
