I get mighty tired of the double standards of certain groups.
“Terrorists are morally reprehensible” (true)
Muslim nut goes off and you read:
“That Muslim terrorist never should have gotten in to XYZ” (possibly)

Then you have non Islamic terrorists, and the apologists come out to play
“Oh he was just a mentally unstable individual” (while true, this may also hold true for the Muslim terrorists, IRA terrorists, etc).

So for the love of all the gods, I am totally over the defense of these scum. WE get it every time a mass shooting happens, or a non-Islamic killer does something politically motivated.

Either stand by the first statement (Terrorists are morally reprehensible) or admit you are bigoted.

Please note, some of this is from observations off of ATS, I made the mistake of delving into Storefront to see what the thralls were saying .BUT I’ve also seen it here to a lesser degree.

Sleep, little one. There are no muslim terrorist, like 1.6 billion mad people who may or may not want to hurt you.

Oh sure they all follow the same mind set, and believe in the same moon warlock, and want to do the things written in the book they believe in, but shhhh, it's not anything to worry about.

I mean, the guy who watches Dexter and goes killing people, he's just as bad, The guy who watched A Clockwork Orange and went around doing bad things, he's just as bad.

Because billions of dexter fans and Little Alex fans, are the same as an entire cult, ideology, that espouses publicly the death of kuffr.

Sleep little one, you'll wake up from the nightmare soon.

ETA: Not appointed to the OP, but the general public who proclaim such things are untrue...

They'll never let go of their double standards. It's the same for other issues, too.

They claim they're libertarians who want drugs legalized, but they also say "inner city youth" deserve to go to jail for having drugs. They say socialists like myself are extremists and are tearing the country apart. But they're the ones who keep cutting the social safety net, won't reinvest in infrastructure spending, don't want all Americans to have quality healthcare, and constantly call for more military action like some rabid warmongers. They say they want government to stay out of our lives, yet they demand that same government profile and harass minority communities; demand new laws regulating bathrooms; etc.

It makes a lot more sense when you realize they want a 2 tiered social system. They want extra freedoms, perks, and liberties for themselves, but not for everyone else. They want freedom from government intrusion while being able to use that same government to crackdown on anyone they don't like. Remember, a lot of them openly hate the concepts of equality and "social justice". Let that sink in for a second.

oh & that website's a cesspool, isn't it? but i'm sure you've noticed similar posts there and here

That was sort of off the topic. I did not say there are no Muslim terrorists. What I said was "don't dismiss the white folk as not terrorists, but mentally unstable".

I saw you did not say that was directed at me, but I am addressing the point: A terrorist is a terrorist is a terrorist.

I lurk at sites like that to see what they talk about when they don't think "libs" like myself are listening. Every stereotype imaginable is right there in plain view.

I'm not exactly sure what point you are trying to make.

ANYONE that goes into a club, restaurant, train station, movie theater, school, public place with the intent to kill a bunch of people is a friggen nut. (Actually nut is not a harsh enough term but I'll go with it for now).

That being said, in an effort to protect the rest of us non-nuts we all have to understand what we are dealing with and we have to connect the dots (when dots are available).

The guy that dressed up like The Joker and shot up a bunch of people in a movie theatre is no different than that son of a b-tch that shot up the club in Orlando. They are equally as evil (except apparently the Orlando bastard was much better prepared to cause more carnage than the joker).

That being said, if there were multiple shootings perpetrated by people dressed like the Joker and after a while it became apparent that they were all members of local chapters of "The Temple of the Joker".... looking into that commonality would be warranted.

In the partially-hypothetical scenario where multiple abortion clinics are bombed and people killed and the perpetrators claim outright that they did these acts in the name of Jesus Christ... looking into the Churches they attend would be warranted.

As a Sunday Mass attending Catholic not only would I hope that people would look into my parish if there was a wolf in our midst but I would actively help the authorities.

All of that being said.... there are "one off" mass killers. I remember vividly the guy that shot up the Long Island railroad about twenty years ago. He wasn't connected or "inspired" by anyone. He was a nut. I'm not sure if anyone remembers the guy (about two years after 9-11) that flew his small airplane into an IRS building. After his manifesto became public it was clear that this was a guy that "snapped" (and I have to admit that while this guy was a monster his actions were a result of the "perceived" injustices he was dealt by the IRS).

At the present (and I hope brief) point in time in history, you have a group of SELF PROCLAIMED Muslim Terrorists attacking the West. They literally go out of their way to say they are doing it FOR ISLAM.

It is NOT bigoted to look into areas where crazy people come from. If killers come from "The Temple of the Joker" I expect law enforcement to investigate the "Temple of the Joker." If killers are coming from off-shoots of Christianity, I expect law enforcement to investigate those churches. If people are running around out there killing people (and raping women in Europe) and claiming it is for Allah.... then you have to follow the dots.

There is no excuse for blowing people up or blowing people away.

The fact that there are SO many people out there that refuse (REFUSE) to understand that there is a semi-organized group out there that literally wants to kill them, and their children, and their friends.... and claim that there is no common denominator..... I simply don't know what to say because I know there is no way I can convince them to take off the rose-colored glasses.

Terrorist/mass shooter motivation versus political correctness (aka: one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter) has driven otherwise sane folk to have somewhat inconsistent viewpoints on subjects that overlap.

IMO, it's what motivates an individual to carry out such vile acts that gets folks all riled up. The fact that the killing(s) occur appear to take a back-seat to the seemingly more important question of why.

When evidence, videos and eye witness testimony comes into the social media arena, people tend to form their own views which may or may not reflect the reality of the situation (and likely the crux of your OP).

enter political correctness......it's when the 'why' gets discussed and what transpires is the standard 'who' falling into the following categories:

Radical Islamic Extremist.
Radical right-wing political/christian extremist.
Disgruntled white male on psychotropics.
Gang banger.
Lone wolf gunman politically motivated.
FBI
CIA
[insert other]

So, depending upon 'who' from that group actually carried out the attack AND depending upon your own individual thoughts on various subjects like political persuasion and religious slant - will define 'why' and from that point onwards the hair-splitting manifests itself on social media where the actual act of killing is drowned out by whether he was a religious terrorist or a sick mentally unstable person or an anti-government patriot or a government black op agent etc.

They are all terrorists when their target is the indiscriminate murder of innocent people to further their own ideology.

One of the causes of this inconsistency is, I think, due to a lot of folks getting the vast majority of their info on current events from Facebook, YT and twitter over any other form of information outlet and it's here that the 'confusion' occurs.

Perhaps you missed the news from the UK today? Where a white, apparently right wing, "gentleman" shot and stabbed a politician. He has been labeled as mentally ill. Which is probably true. Yet it was also most likely a terroristic activity.

I agree. I also feel that a lot of myopia in these events occur as it is not convenient to admit, yes there are white, terrorists too. Hell the UK should remember the IRA. So they say "oh he had mental health issues".... no really?

To me it seems that anyone who sets out to kill and maim innocent people has a few twists in the wiring of the brain. It is the cause of the twisted/broken pathways in the brain that interests me. Did his brain get re-wired due to trauma, to drugs, to mind control or some wicked combination of things. Seek the source of the problem.
The media tells you about the "mental issues" or reports that said bad guy was, or had been under the care of a mental health care professional. That's media speak for "He was on drugs made by a company who is one of our biggest advertisers." They don't want to talk about the drugs that we're giving kids that actually cause homicidal/suicidal ideation in young people. And not just in young people, but it's more common in youth. And those are just the legal drugs.

When a fellow announces that he's killing in the name of Allah, I take him at his word. Same with the ones killing in the name of Christ. But there seem to be far more terrorist acts originating in the Muslim religion than in the Christian churches. The ones who don't announce the reason for their rampages are the ones I can't figure out.

Saying they have "mental issues" seems as redundant as saying they are radical terrorists since I automatically know that they are radicals if they're out doing acts of terror and by their actions it is clearly evident that their brain is not functioning properly. Terrorism isn't a normal, rational behavior, it's bat-spit crazy behavior.

People are just looking at the reality of Islamic Extremism and how the religion taken out of context creates these people. They are not insane they are groomed to do these atrocious things by their leaders.

Could have definitely been a case of Political Terrorism. I honestly haven't had a chance to get up to speed on this story though.

This next bit isn't necessarily about you but about some comments I seen on here in general....

Just because someone can identify some acts of Islamic Terrorism does not mean that these same people don't also acknowledge other types of terrorism. To re-use an example I made earlier (I think in this thread) if there was a guy running around blowing up abortion clinics claiming it's "In Jesus' name" then that right there would be a Christian Terrorist. Just like with Islamic Terrorists, it's not that the bad guy represents the entire religion, but it's a motivating factor for THAT person and it's the most efficient way to categorize the problem and ultimate go after others that share the same M.O.'s.

We are hearing a lot more about Islamic Terrorists these days because there are just simply more people waging Jihad against the West while shouting "Alahu Akbar."
