Couldn't find a source.
Still makes sense that since he didn't purchase anything they wouldn't have his name or really anything to go on. Even IF they had video I'm sure it would have been low priority and it would have taken awhile to figure out who he was.
I remember being in a gun shop when a crazy drunk woman came in and started asking about buying a .44 magnum (I still think it was weird) and they just told her to get out. I imagine gun shops get a lot of weirdos.
And then the FBI were ordered to stand down . The order coming from the top. Way it seems to have been working for 8 years .
Yeah some guy down in Orlando heard the guy do an interview, said the guy came in, stood out of the cameras range so they didn't have a good shot of him, and subsequently no real info to give the FBI. Then claims he saw the shooters picture and it was the same guy.

Realy? Do you need "common core" deductive reasoning? You honestly believe the guberment had him in their grasp and then went limp wrist? Not considering/figuring what he could, would and will do, played into the "daily brief" agenda?

This is sounding more and more like Oklahoma.
Considering that the FBI and FBI informants were involved, multiple people with knowledge of the event prior to execution, and tons of other details coming out. Looks like it just another planned event. I wonder if the FBI was planning on foiling it ahead of time, and maybe they slipped up and he went through with it.

Oklahoma was my first wake up call.... and TWA Flight 800.

That's about where my thoughts are focusing. Either the "handlers" screwed up or he went rogue -- maybe both.

the FBI's problem is he was a full citizen making legal purchases
if you should be put under surveillance for buying something, maybe it should be illegal ?

Firstly Mateen was an American citizen.
Second if all he asked for is #3 armor, bulk ammo and spoke a what a gun store owner knew to be Arabic language. Did I miss something?
What should the FBI do when a customer asks 2 questions and then speaks in a diff tongue? He already was on a watch list, in 2012 and nothing happened. It is really hard to read peoples minds, in most cases there is little that could be done to stop these terrible shootings. You want to know why? Cause we are a free people living in a free country.
The only logical way to stop mass shootings is either confiscate all guns (good luck), everyone carries a gun (good luck). We are stuck, but certain groups love to use this issue, divide and conquer.

The U.S. always has to have an enemy to keep the military complex machine going. When the cold war was over, the U.S. immediately said the next concern was going to be terrorism. Anybody else remember when our government kept saying we have to keep the Persian Gulf open to keep the Middle-East oil flowing? That started our presence in the Middle East. We started sending ships into the Persian Gulf supposedly to escort oil tankers. We also started supporting dictators like Sadam Hussein, the Shah of Iran, and terrorists like Osama Bin laden in the Soviet Union invasion of Afghanistan. The U.S. intentionally stirred the sewage in the Middle East to create terror. They got what they planned for! Now the citizens of Europe and the U.S. are paying for it with their lives.

The problem is many armed security guards have there own vests and shoot a lot.
Kinda odd how they could screw up so bad. Makes you wonder if it was intentional due to one of "them" being on the inside-not talking about Obama and the top here but the more local jurisdictions. Who is on the inside here messing with these concerns, not only the gun store reporting but a fellow security guard as well.

No one can "drive" anyone to do anything... much less such a violent and heinous crime.
A man can be driven to do anything. This guy is living proof of that. If only people would have accepted him and his gay life style this would not have had to happen. Sad world we live in.

Every person who ever did a mass killing did so because they wanted to be accepted. That why this guy wanted to join ISIS, he just wanted to belong to something. We pick and jab at these people and when they finally explode people are shocked

technically at the time a crime hadn't been committed yet so I'm a little upset about these gun shop owners racial profiling the guy. I'm sure the whole time he was there he was given dirty looks and made to feel uncomfortable. Its these types of people who drive these people to do what they do. They make them feel less than human and if they no longer value their own life how do you expect them to value the life of a stranger.
Given that the shooter was already on a watch list, wouldn't buying level 3 body armor and large amounts of ammunition as well as three guns be enough for the FBI to investigate further? What good is the FBI if they oversee something as obvious as this? Sure it is allowed to buy such things, but when someone is suspicious while buying out of the ordinary things, why shouldn't that person's actions be questioned?
