Has typewriter been said? I don't know what to bet you, but I bet you it's a typewriter.

Donate $5 to charity of the other's choosing? This doesn't count if typewriter noise has already been guessed in thread or on the show. I trust you to be honest if it's been guessed and then I'll have to get all weird about it again (I'm still going to donate if you agree, you don't need to cheat).

Man the only other thing that my ear picked up was the sound of my old BB gun when I charged it. Click, slide (and I swear you can hear tension in the audio clip (you can HEAR a spring or something) the click and end of the stroke/settle. w

It bugs me that it's probably super obvious. Like a sliding glass door lock.

-----

So there are two angles I see them using. It's either something that's so obvious we tune it out completely, or it's something a certain demographic would get (older people).

I feel like my conviction (that was on purpose prison colony) it's s typewriter noise doesn't work in Australia, only a few of you little wallabies down under know how to write!

I was going to transfer $500 cash to the member that picks it rightfully so, and if i guess it i would donate that $500 to ATS and become a 'Covert Operator"
, i am a very honest person Domo. Big believer in paying it forward.

For instance, that trusty (pfft) old car we have i mentioned in this thread, we went grocery shopping just in the last 2 hours, we arrived at the shopping centre and the rear windows were down after turning off the car, so i went to turn the car on again to give power to the windows and the car wouldnt tick over.... no power.
Lucky for us, the person parked accross from us came out of the shops and said 'mate, need a jump start'? 'love one champion ' i replied, so we were able to get home but no shopping was done.
I personally have driven off the next exit on a freeway to turn around the other way to go and help somebody with their bonnet up, so KARMA, as they say, works. At least i think it does.

P.S..... Typewriter has been said, i remember clearly one morning.

I believe it. If I figure it out I would rather see it go to charity. I don't need fun money, I'm not putting up $500, I'll bump it up to $100 to a charity of the correct guessers choosing (as long as it's a good charity and I believe in it, no Sasquatch hunters).

You sound like me. I almost always pull over and offer help. It nags on me if I don't. I have flipped many a bitch. Do you all say that too? If you turn the car around abruptly is it flipping a bitch?

Charity it is. We should stop discussing this, i just read the T & C's and we need to get back into the nitty gritty of this thread ...........

I dont mind if a post or two is deleted , but ill puke my guts out if the thread is ripped.

I don't know what the problem is, but I can't seem to insert images I've uploaded into my library. I click on the icon and it just gives me a small box that I can only close.

Last night I recorded the clip from the website and plugged it in to Cool Edit. I extracted both instances of the Secret Sound and combined it into one clip. Oddly, the wave forms are different between the first and second instance, but I guess that's due to studio noise.

Isolating the first instance, it appears the sound lasts about .7 seconds. The first part, which I will call The Slide, lasts about .495 seconds. The second part, The Thump, covers the remainder. Interestingly, The Thump is two distinct sounds. The first sound goes from about .495 to .54. Then it gets quiet for .01 seconds, then increases in volume for .04 seconds, maintains volume for .05 seconds, then begins to taper off. A double hit? An echo?

The Slide also has some interesting characteristics, including a point where it goes nearly silent at .34 seconds before resuming about 80% volume for about .05 seconds and then tapering off.

I don't know if this helps but there it is. It's hard to describe all this without the picture. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong in trying to insert pictures?

Posting to let you know I'm still here and reading/thinking. I also 100% agree with Domo1 on the prize part.

That being said, Scubagravy, can you provide us with the previous clues and answer? (was that the champagne cork?)

I am trying to figure out how they think and how deep do we have to dig in order to solve the clues. Don't want to overshoot it. Right now my brain travels in the same circles and I come up with answers that seem to be way too far fetched. I am so focused on the same search pattern that logically I keep getting the same results.

Nah, it's just left and right channels. They are identical, so I'm guessing either the original source was in mono or Windows Sound Recorder only records in mono.

I don't know how useful this would be in for sound comparison. The DJs played the sound twice, and when I spliced the two together the graphs were noticeably different. Not sure why. So I don't think it would be that helpful in comparing the same sound from two different sources. May just need a way to filter out ambient noise. It took a little doing just to clip out where the DJs talked over the sound just a little before and after. Maybe later this evening I can play with the two sounds and get a "purer" looking graph.

I was just hoping a visual representation of the sound might give a little insight into the mechanics involved. Like the double thump at the end, which might be a little hard to pick up with the naked ear.

I wasn't getting anywhere with the clues, so I figured I'd take a closer look at the sound. I'm just grasping at straws here, and tossing them out to everyone else.
