I'll stand up to it.

I don't care if it pisses off a fellow conservative or not. Gay people are not a threat to anyone. Islamic Jihadists are a threat even to themselves.

The disgusting attitude people take with regard to certain groups of people in this country tells me we have a very long way to go as a nation.

I don't believe in "tolerance". To tolerate something means doing something you don't wanna do or belief in. What we need is inclusiveness and acceptance.

There are very few groups in this country as discriminated against as gay people. We would do well, as conservatives, to include them in the the push for greater constitutional liberties.

I read hateful people push them away. They always talk about how gun rights protect the most vulnerable among us, but they then celebrate the death of those vulnerable people who desperately need a voice on both sides of the isle.

i think for today you just became my best friend.

I'd be ok with sending a couple of Brigade Combat teams in to lay some hate on those pricks.

I wonder how many ISIS followers have to attack us until we get serious.

I disagree. You have no right to ever expect everyone to accept everything from others.

Are you going to expect our resident Hindus to accept and approve of your need to eat beef? They aren't going to, but they aren't to stop you from it either. Tolerance is merely that they accept that they do not agree with your beef-eating, but accept that they have to right to stop you from it just as you have to right to force them to eat beef.

You want tolerance and respect, but attempting to force acceptance is where anger, resentment, and eventually hatred comes in.

Talk about gun control, talk about Islamic jihad, talk about violence in general...I just can't take wanton hatred like this. It's a shame people like this play for the gun rights team.

Then the president should have kept his mouth shut about how 'easy' it is for people to get them.

The guy was a security guard.

By the nature of the job background checks is the first hurdle in becoming one.

It took place in a "gun-free" zone.

Current gun laws don't allow for firearms to be carried in places that serve alcohol.

It's all part of common sense gun laws brought to you by politicians who care.

This is so much like Paris. So many of our young men and women cut down in their youth---One moment they're dancing enjoying the company of friends and celebrating life...and the next, pure unadulterated Radical Islamic hate and terrorism cuts them down savagely.

Tears and prayers for those precious lost beautiful young lives and their loved ones.
NO MERCY towards those behind this horrific crime!
Hunt them down and punish them mercilessly...all the way back to their vile source!

Strange, I seem to recall when 89 people at the Paris Bataclan theatre were gunned down that many Americans on here were writing things like "This only happened in Europe because they aren't allowed any guns" (which isn't actually true). Also, like some random guy with a gun would have been able to shoot back like in a cowboy movie.

Well. It looks like it has happened in America. The guy actually started his rampage by shooting a guy with a gun. And it looks like the death toll could very well rise to similar levels of those in Paris. Armed citizens who legally carry guns are only useful if they actually know how to use it. Most aren't.

The guy might have had legal access to an assault type rifle, but the terrorists in Paris certainly didn't get their guns legally. So this argument can go both ways.

As a Brit, I imagine that the gay community in general aren't into guns and doubt very much that they'd be allowed in a club like this.
I could be wrong, it's just the vibe I get.

Maybe why people like this don't target redneck bars in rural Texas perhaps?

Did the shooter's parents have U.S. citizenship when he was born?

If not, it is time to nix the anchor baby formula.

Only children born to parents who have acquired the necessary skills and met the necessary requirements to be American citizens should be pronounced natural born citizens.

Babies born to immigrant parents SHOULD NOT be given automatic citizenship...period. Time to stop this ridiculous practice and redefine or clarify what naturalized citizen really means.

OK, I understand that this was a gay bar, but am I to understand that the only victims were gays? Because everything I see is acting as if that is the case.

It's logical to presume the majority of people in a gay bar are gay, and by extension the majority of victims.

As we spent time talking about either in this thread or another, it isn't only gay folks who go to those bars. So yes, there will be a lot, but they aren't all going to be gay.

FBI statement is that they interviewed the shooter twice with inconclusive results both times; shooter was not under surveillance and not subject of or involved in any active investigation.

Its what they want.

Military action on its own has never solved these problems has it? Just made it worse.

Hell isis was caused by our meddling in the first place.

You need to go for the root of the cause and it is located in a US "ally" saudi arabia.

predators in nature don't choose the strongest opponents on purpose lets be honest...

they will choose what they perceive as the weakest of us at the most vulnerable moments.

Don't misunderstand me.

I'm not advocating that anyone be forced into anything. I said we need acceptance. I know full well we won't get it.

Conservatives have managed to alienate a segment of the population at risk of being victims of actual hate crimes.

There are groups out there like the Pink Pistols who advocate for the second amendment in the gay community. They should be bigger than they actually are. But because we push gay people away they wind up in the anti-self defense team.

We're only hurting ourselves.
