Their words dripped of honey,
They tasted sugary sweet
Though unbeknownst to many,
They were filled with lies and deceit
Some of us knew otherwise,
We rose up against the liar
Though none of us with proof,
They flung us over the fire
I wept alongside my friends,
For they hurt more than I
We could only wait,
Surely there would be an outcry
The proverbial fire lay waste,
To all our hopes and dreams
I watched my friends suffering,
My thoughts filled with angry screams
How dare you do this?
My yells echoed through the quiet
The people turned away from me,
In silence they refused to riot
We watched in silent sadness,
As all would slowly depart
Nothing remained as it should be,
The despair hid within my heart
We stand in hopeless silence,
For one day their crimes will come to light
But until that fateful moment,
We suffer in service to our plight.
