I didn't realize we all had to be in agreement to have a discussion around here. If that was the case what exactly would be the point in discussing anything in the first place???

But have it your way. Go talk to people who only agree with you instead then.

ATS used to be somewhere you could go and discuss stuff where not everyone agreed but could still talk. Guess those days are gone.

It's probably a good thing that he's not offering to have you on then I guess. That saves you both from having to experience that awkward moment of saying no to his offer.

Although, I'd bet if the offer was good enough you'd go. Everyone has a price after all.

This Bill Maher guy must be pretty influential with ATS members. A two page thread in less than a couple of hours is impressive! Personally, I've never watched the guy. Thought Maher was just a media comedian, like that Howard Stern guy on the radio.

I will admit I'm a huge Bill Maher fan because he doesn't silence critics and actually prefers and encourages opposing viewpoints. I've been a fan since his political incorrect days when I was a kid. Sure he's way more left than me but he's one of the only leftist besides Sam Smith that has called Islam as the hate filled religion it is. He's a really smart guy who is well informed on the issues.

I also disagree. For a comedian, Maher isn't just talk when he debates an issue. He does his research, and asks the tough questions. Political correctness doesn't control what comes out of his mouth. He tells it like it is. Both Maher and Jon Stewart have done a lot to expose the political BS in this country. Both of them have attacked both political parties for outrageous rhetoric and lies.

Or maybe they just don't agree with his views and don't want to be associated with him? Just because someone has a show or platform, that doesn't mean politicians are obligated to attend it or acknowledge it.

Not true at all. The US Constitution mentions "the general welfare" on 2 separate occasions, including the famous "General Welfare" clause (found in Article I, Section 8, Clause 1).

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

After listening to all those other GOP candidates pussy-foot around Trump, and then hearing Hillary Clinton's speech about him the other day, in which she addressed his actual positions and what they will do to the country and the globe, (if they weren't so illegal as to actually take place), it is clear SHE is the only one who has balls.

I like Bill Maher and he's right. The only candidate who has the balls to actually answer tough questions without trying to squirm around the response, is my man, Bernie.
