Do you believe that any awakening process that one would go through would come naturally or is it something that must be initiated by the individual?

I see so many posts talking about how to decalcify the pineal gland, how to unblock chakras, open the 3rd eye, unleash kundalini energy etc...

i myself (and im sure some others) have tried many of these methods to no avail and tried them in the most authentic way as possible...

personally most experiences i have had have been totally spontaneous (most recently having had what i felt was an oobe) with no effort on my part

feel free to share your sentiments

I suppose one one can force themselves to awaken in a sense. But only by forcing themselves to be mindful of their experiences to gain the most insight from them and thus come to a realization.

Anything works as a rude awakening, but the best is a tranfer from another person/being that gives a sense of direction. From there on development must happen. Its like a baby, changing from the womb to the outside world. Its a process, you can choose to ignore your new reality or become aware in it.a reply to: dreamlotus1111

Assuming we are discussing kundalini/chi/light body awareness where the body sensitivity is increased and energy can be felt like heat(fire)/vibration/cold(water) phenomena.

The human body was designed with limiters in the brain. Amagydala fear overload do break one of those limiters and send a call out. Would not recommend taking that path but many souls do it by accident/design. Insanely painful.

I would recommend going to a good Reiki Master/empath who can flush the system if you have no other idea and increase your body awareness of these phenomena slowly. But be aware once you go very enhanced energetic body awareness it is on. Both the positive effects and the negative. Sometimes the heat/vibration/cold effects is a bit to much for people to feel comfortable.

dreamlotus1111 To point out I do not achieve OOB and I am limited to vibration mode.
. You clearly have more experience than me there.

If you are slicing bread, slice bread.

See if you can do this, and focus on nothing else.

I once read a book on telekinesis, because of odd phenomena that I wondered if I could control. I was trying to discern if this were coming from me or from something out side of myself. The book began by having you sit at a table and place a pencil in front of you on that table. You were to sit still and then focus on it, to see if you could move it with your mind. I tried repeatedly and failed.

A bit further into the book, it said that if you want to move the pencil, pick it up and move it with your hand.

I came to understand what I later labelled as "spiritual economy," although this example might prove vague.

So, being late and my being tired, and having failed repeatedly at something else lately, let me give you another vague example. I am a trader. Another instructor was relaying the story of a student who wanted to have six monitors. The instructor asked him, "Can you make money with one monitor?" Of course, the answer was no. "Then why do you need six?"

Good night.

Personally I just visualize anything and everything that floods my mind more so when I was younger at least. Basically just let your imagination run wild and meditate on your own life to fire the hell out of your brains meaty bits.

Daydreaming can be good or bad depending on your situation but I would imagine that can lead to a good exercise that may eventually manifest in your lucid dreams.

I had a relatively rough upbringing so imagination was a good thing and in many ways I guess it is a form of meditation.

If you are ready, it will happen. You can make it happen, maybe. Sadly, probably some folks don't have the capacity. So the question has complex components depending.... So the bottom line is if it doesn't happen spontaneously, and ways of instruction cannot bring it forth, then maybe it is beyond the grasp.

Awakening is the realization that there is no one doing anything - it is the realization that everything that happens is spontaneous. It is the dropping away of the idea that there is a separate you doing things - things like thoughts and actions are not 'yours'. Life is what is appearing to happen - there isn't 'someone' who has a life - life is one - it does not belong to anyone.
Awakening may happen if videos like this are listened to with an open mind.

If this message is heard and entertained - awakening could happen. It is like a joke - it is either got or not.
Here is a great video about why it does not happen.

For the most part, the enlightenment and visionary episodes I have experienced can either be spontaneous and/or invited (never forced). Since realizing that I have total control of all journeys, I find I just keep myself open and let it happen...no fear.

What is expected to happen if there is an 'awakening'?
How would you know if you had awakened?
What is being sought and what is it that is seeking?

There is no such thing as forcing an awakening process. It will come to you naturally or it will not. Awareness is the key. Just like you said, it is spontaneous. I think of it as God or universe or your inner self communicating to you, testing you, giving you clues but what you do with it is up to you, that is if you are being aware of it happening in the first place.

So best way is to just go with the flow paying attention in the meanwhile
Here is a thought that I have been pondering on for a very long time. We think that it is us who make choices about our life. While this is true from our perspective, who is to say that our life has not been set in advance and past, present and future have already happened which puts us in a role of mere passangers. So every decision you think you make, has already been made, even if just out of stubborness to prove yourself that this is not the case, you go out now and run around naked, sth you would most likely never do under normal circumstances.

After a while, I have come to the conclusion that this paradox will never be solved and that it`s best for me to just go with the flow.

One who can force themselves to awaken are already awake.

Backward Flowing Method

Summary: This method requires you to breath through your diaphragm and become celibate for minimum 100 days.

I think it's a very mysterious process.
In my reading about various spiritual masters, teachers, and regular folk who are said to have attained some sort of enlightenment/ realization, they are all different stories.
A lot of them have been due to personal circumstances, (deep depression, unsatisfaction with the world and life , a great curiosity about the human condition, etc) others through years of spiritual study and practice, and many others through apparent spontaneous awakenings.
There is no 'one path'.

I don't know about awakening, but I have had great insights and dare I say 'spiritual experiences' due to various circumstances. Depression, meditating/visualizing, and once through the use of a certain natural substance.
I wouldn't push any of these methods anymore, everyone is different, and has different needs at different times.

Having said that, I don't believe a real and permanent awakening is necessarily some kind of heaven-sent new knowledge.
But maybe just a calm awareness that everything is going to be fine in the end, 'this too, shall pass'.

I like this quote from a Japanese Zen master: "Don't think you will necessarily be aware of your own enlightenment"

I don't think it can be forced because I believe that literally all of life is THE awakening process, of which we are just very small bits. All things are destined to Awaken, it is inevitable, but not all things Awaken during their lifetimes, before THE awakening happens... Its the divine becoming real through us before the Divine technically even exists yet...

I think that you can try to initiate the awakening, but it might not be as effective. It has to happen naturally and at its own pace. When you are "ready" or open to experience it, and ready might not be the right word, you will experience the awakening process gradually - piece by piece. It is a process and as soon as it starts, it can't be stopped.
Everyone has to find their own method and techniques and what works for some might not work for others. Opening your chakras, decalcifying you pineal gland, meditation and other methods are tools to help you get there.

Dreamlotus, it seems you started the process already.

No effort or practice is needed to see that thoughts arise just like clouds appear in the sky.
There is an idea that there is a separate you who can choose to do things. There is the belief that the character you look out of can be controlled.
It can be noticed that everything that happens simply just happens.

Awake and see that it is just a movie - it is just happening.
